A&E got some excellent news today as "Bates Motel" ended its first season as the second-most-watched new cable drama of the year. And if you're a fan of the show, we have more good news in the form of some hints of what's ahead.
Let's get the numbers out of the way first. Per THR's The Live Feed, the Season 1 finale episode averaged 2.7 million viewers, with 1.5 million of them in the targeted adults 18-49 category. That's a slight dip from March's 3 million premiere but on par with the series average of 2.7 million total viewers (1.5 million adults 18-49 and adults 25-54) tuning in during the entire ten-episode run. Live+Seven Day returns have the show earning 4.4 million viewers with DVR additions. The demographic scores rise to 2.6 million adults 18-49 and 2.5 million adults 25-54, boosts of a respective 72 and 67 percent.

Not much new programming from ABC to look forward to next season, as far as shows with black actors in lead/starring roles are concerned. Of course both Shonda Rhimes series - Grey's Anatomy and Scandal - are returning. But both are already in ABC's arsenal. Ashley Madekwe and Toks Olagundoye will return to their respective supporting roles in Revenge and The Neighbors, respectively. There's also Robert Wisdom in Nashville. One new series of note is Resurrection, which stars Omar Epps in the the top role, in the serial adaptation of author Jason Mott's debut novel, The Returned. Although it's a mid-season replacement, so don't expect to see it until sometime in early 2014. There are a couple of new shows with black actors in them, although not necessarily front-and-center. Isiah Whitlock Jr. is a member of the ensemble cast of Lucky 7, which revolves around seven employees of a service. »

Question: For the love of a Happy Ending, any word on whether or not USA Network will right a terrible wrong? —Tiera
Ausiello: No news is, in this case, pretty good news. Negotiations continue between Sony and USA, which tells me that the cabler remains seriously interested in giving the show a fourth season. Meanwhile, if the talks collapse — bite your tongue, Ausiello! — it’s an inevitability that Damon Wayans Jr. will find himself back on New Girl next season in some capacity. »

Rest in peace, Declan (Connor Paolo). Revenge's season-two finale dealt a devastating blow to our favorite Hamptonites and the viewers when Jack's (Nick Wechsler) little brother and Charlotte's (Christa B. Allen) boyfriend (and baby daddy!) died due to injuries he sustained in the Grayson Global bombing. We chatted with Wechsler and Allen about Paolo's "sad" exit from the show and how Charlotte will cope with Declan's death. Plus, Wechsler teases Jack's reaction to Emily's (Emily VanCamp) bombshell finale reveal! "I'm still sad! He's a really good friend of mine in life and we were partners on the show. Last night we all saw A&E’s season one finale of Bates Motel. One day later, and Ep Carlton Cuse is giving us some information about what season 2 might entail. There’s a bevy of spoilers for the season finale in the following interview with THR.
The Hollywood Reporter: Norman killed Miss Watson!
Carlton Cuse: The ending is certainly a provocative moment that sets up a lot of story for next year.
THR: Where will season two pick up? Will there be a time jump?
Cuse: I don’t want to say exactly how we’re going to do that. Certainly the events at end of this season are very much in play when season two opens. One of the big questions looming is: What is Norman’s awareness of his own self, how much does Norma know? How much does she know about what Norman is really all about? »

“When there’s no more room in hell…”, the dead go to detention? That’s the tagline for Alex Craig Mann’s horror comedy, Detention Of The Dead. Billed as The Breakfast Club meets Shaun Of The Dead, we’ve been sent the first clip from the film, and as always, we figured that we’d send it your way! Be prepared to see a lot of eyebrow raising in this clip (literally,..why do they raise their eyebrows every half second?)
“Comedy and Horror unite in this “The Breakfast Club” meets “Shaun of the Dead” tale about a group of oddball high school students who find themselves trapped in detention with their classmates having turned into a horde of Zombies. Can they put their differences aside and work together to survive the night? Fat chance! This is High School after all.”
