An episode for the informed " foodie "a luminary
11 March 2011 | by See all my reviews

Zimmern has a natural ability to take you right to the bite. Often the climax of any cooking show or culinary expose is that first bite of finished product. Zimmern has the ability to describe with color ,every flavor as it passes the taste-bud in steps: from bang!to terroir, complete with equally punctuated facial expressions. His gift is to bridge the gulf between centuries old culinary tradition to modern trend. Naturally, Greece is a perfect place to produce an episode. The episode was crisply produced, natural and fluid in cadence. It captured the dramatic, colorful backdrop of Greece while highlighting the impacts on cuisine from a country with three different seas around it to the south east and west comprising the southern Balkan peninsula. It introduces us to a few Greek "characters" that demonstrate OLD school methodology while stealing the show. Bizarre foods episode:Greece, is a hit. It skillfully takes you right to the flavor, passion and tradition (from slow to ala-minute)that are central tenets in the modern "cuisine of the sun." *insider bonus includes introducing: Diane Kochilas , in luminary in the cookbook world of Cuisine Hellinica.
