Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets is writer/director Luc Besson’s latest sci-fi action/adventure film, starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne as a team of special agents wisecracking and flirting their way through danger as they race to unravel the puzzle of what or who is threatening to destroy the interstellar city of Alpha. The film also stars Clive Owen, Ethan Hawk and singer Rihanna.

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets is spectacular visually, with one fabulous, colorful, fantastical vision after another, and the film completely delivers on that level.

The 3D action/adventure film is based on a French sci-fi graphic novel series, “Valerian and Laureline,” or just “Valerian.” The long-running comic series, »

'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' Review: Luc Besson Makes a Sci-Fi Mess

19 July 2017 8:55 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Confession: There are times when I've been loyally in Luc Besson's corner – the visual splendor of Subway (1985), The Big Blue (1988) and La Femme Nikita (1990) established him as a master of what the French call Cinéma du Look. And 1994's The Professional – with Jean Reno teaching the assassin's game to a very young Natalie Portman – went deeper, blending style with a nurturing sense of humanity. Plus, there's a lot to be said in favor of both his sci-fi extravaganza The Fifth Element (1997) and last year's next-level ScarJo-evolution whatsit Lucy. »

Harold Ramis certainly didn’t invent it, but his Groundhog Day made the narrative loop device a mainstream mainstay, lovingly aped in everything from Source Code to Edge of Tomorrow to 50 First Dates. In Before I Fall, the loop treatment is utilized rather intelligently by director Ry Russo-Young, from Maria Maggenti screenplay adapted from Lauren Oliver‘s novel. – Dan M. (full review)

5 May 2017 3:08 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Musical chameleon Mike Patton has announced that he's working on a score for the Netflix adaptation of the Stephen King novella 1922. In November of last year, it was announced that Netflix would be making a movie based on King's short story. Zak Hilditch will direct the movie based off of the screenplay that he wrote. Not much else has been revealed about the movie, but we have learned that Mike Patton has already composed the score.

Mike Patton, who is probably best known as the lead singer of the experimental rock band Faith No More, recently spoke to Rolling Stone about his new black metal project Dead Cross with ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo. At the end of the article, Patton casually mentions that he has »

Interview with Director Rod Blackhurst for the film Here Alone

Here Alone was one of the best films at last summer’s Frightfest. Directed by Rod BlackhurstHere Alone is set during the aftermath of a viral epidemic that renders the majority of the human population deranged monsters. Today the film lands in U.S cinemas and on UK iTunes. Ahead of the release we fired some questions at Blackhurst, here’s what he had to say about the project:

How would you describe Here Alone to someone not familiar with it?

People often ask me is Here Alone a genre film or an indie drama. Here’s what I tell them. »
