pretty dumb treatment of a serious issue
9 February 2017 | by (a distant galaxy far far away) – See all my reviews

Not that this is really a gay movie, but they could have made the two potential lovers at least do more than look longingly at each other and briefly kiss before killing one of them off. Quite abruptly, too - out of nowhere. I thought there were some good acting scenes here, but the script and lousy direction just killed any interest in seeing how this turned out. I made it to the end, anyways, but was just confused by the whole thing. What was the point? The investigation into the oh so scandalous gay affair (that never was) was so ludicrous and poorly acted/written, I couldn't believe any of the actors sat through it with a straight face. I also found it hard to buy that any of these men were actual Navy pilots - they spend so much time drinking and acting like frat boys, I was surprised no one crashed a plane into a building. When a minor character actually does die driving a plane drunk, it was both comical, and about the only realistic part of the story. There was a good screenplay waiting to come out of this silly mess, but none of it ended up in the final project. Cop-out city all the way - obviously it was written and directed by some homophobic chicken, too scared to even build on any of the sexual tension. And to waste the talents of the amazing Tammy Blanchard is almost unforgivable... I did like a few of the characters here, both straight and potentially bisexual, but again, the poor writing fleshed them out more like cardboard cut-outs than real people.... A sad waste of time overall.
