Not only for art lovers

I have to admit I am not particularly interested in old painters and their works. The "Mona Lisa" and her smile, however, is one that you will know regardless of what you know about the subject. These 15 minutes feature Kevin Spacey (already a two-time Academy Award winner at this point), Thandie Newton (after her BAFT win for "Crash") and Elliot Cowan, who I have not come across so far.

Da Vinci and Mona Lisa are brought in for questioning. Spacey plays the interrogator and tries to convince the two (and the audience) that da Vinci is completely overrated due to his many unfinished works, relatively small body of work and unsuccessful inventions. The first half belongs to him, the second half belongs to Da Vinci and his muse. Here they explain the impact they still have on people today in terms of buildings, but also people's minds and ll this many centuries after they died. You can probably assume now that Spacey's character finally gets the short end of the stick.

"The Interrogation of Leo and Lisa" was written by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm and it is the only directorial effort so far by Hamish Jenkinson, Spacey's long time assistant. I quite like the title actually. Leo and Lisa sounds so modern and it nicely reflects the way these two are suddenly put into our times. Worth a watch and I learned a bit about da Vinci from it.
