The Blu-rays of Poundland

Poundland has been selling Blu-rays! And we've been buying and watching them! Tornado Warning, anyone?

I’ve covered the DVD section of Poundland before. I love it, even if I do only ever get around to watching about half of the discs I buy.

Unfortunately, hunting for DVDs in Poundland has become a bit of a dead sport. It’s partly because streaming services like Netflix have given us even easier access to weird films that might turn out to be rubbish. It’s also because Poundland have taken to stocking used DVDs, meaning they have a lot of big Hollywood films that are the same thing you could buy anywhere. That’s not what I go to Poundland for. I’m shopping for strangeness! Not only that, this Den of Geek writer has some very mild issues with germs and can’t really cope with touching second-hand DVDs.

The breakout actor will play a young version of Will Forte’s Phil Tandy Miller for one episode; presumably, Tremblay will appear in a flashback, which is a device that has rarely been used in past episodes of the show.

Not only did critics praise Tremblay for his portrayal as Jacob alongside Brie Larson in Room, but over the last few months, the actor has received numerous nominations and awards from such esteemed groups as the Screen Actors Guild and the National Board of Review.

Tremblay will be popping up in numerous projects over the course of 2016, including four movies: Mike Flanagan’s Before I Wake, Jordan Roberts’s Burn Your Maps,

Ryan Guzman on ‘Jem and the Holograms,’ Working With Richard Linklaker

Ryan Guzman on ‘Jem and the Holograms,’ Working With Richard Linklaker
Ryan Guzman is on the rise after starring in the last two “Step Up” movies, and opposite Jennifer Lopez in “The Boy Next Door.” Next up: “Jem and the Holograms,” which opens Oct. 23, and Richard Linklater’s 2016 baseball drama “Everybody Wants Some.”

Was it scary to sing in “Jem”?

I’d rather fight a 300-pound dude, but I told (director) Jon Chu that I didn’t want a voice double. He got me a great coach, so that’s me in the film.

Why did you pick “The Boy Next Door”?

I fell in love with the idea of playing a psychopath. I got to play a 19-year-old kid who thinks he knows it all.

What were you like at 19?

I was a real idiot. I was a baseball pitcher at Sierra College, and I went 9-1 my last season, but I did nothing in class. I had a torn labrum and a numb arm,

So You Think You Can Dance Season 12 Finale Recap: And the Winner Is...

So You Think You Can Dance Season 12 Finale Recap: And the Winner Is...
I don’t think anyone would mistake So You Think You Can Dance‘s 12th season as its strongest — aside from viewers who were trapped in some sort of Footloose-esque, no-grooving-allowed nightmare for its first 11.

But while the Great Stage-Vs.-Street/Jason Derulo-Vs.-Descriptive-Adjectives Experiment of 2015 lacked something in diversity (whatever happened to ballroom and disco?), gut-busting emotional concepts (what I wouldn’t have given for one routine on par with “Addiction Dance“) and insightful critique (Mary Murphy and Misty Copeland, I missed you!), I’d be lying if I said summer TV still wasn’t the better for it.

YouTube, Awesomeness Films Announce First Movie: ‘Dance Camp’

YouTube, Awesomeness Films Announce First Movie: ‘Dance Camp’
YouTube and Awesomeness Films have announced “Dance Camp,” a music-and-dance teen drama, as the first feature-length film under their co-production deal.

The movie, produced by Jon M. Chu (“Step Up Revolution,” “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,” “Jem and the Holograms”), stars popular YouTuber Meg DeAngelis and Vine celeb Jake Paul, alongside Nadji Jeter (“Grown Ups”).

“Dance Camp” is the latest movie to feature digital stars, which are fueled by the idea that their large social followings will spur a big turnout for their longer-form projects. Awesomeness Films, formed earlier this year by DreamWorks Animation’s AwesomenessTV, this summer released “Smosh: The Movie” with Defy Media following last year’s high-school comedy “Expelled,” with Vine star Cameron Dallas.

The film will be directed by British female duo Bert & Bertie, with Fatima Robinson (“The Voice,” “Dreamgirls,” “Save the Last Dance”) slated to choreograph the feature. The cast of “Dance Camp” also includes Josh Leyva,

Hailee Steinfeld Joins ‘Break My Heart 1,000 Times’ Adaptation

Sick of Young Adult novel adaptations based in the supernatural genre? Then you’ll hate the following news update…

True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast of Break My Heart 1,000 Times, based on a book written by Daniel Waters. The story centres around a world where humans and ghosts – Remnants – live side by side in peaceful cohabitation. However, when a young girl is sent a terrifying message by a Remnant she must take on a mission that’ll change her life forever.

Music video and Step Up Revolution director Scott Speer will take the helm. If you’re a fan of the novel then you need not worry (as much), as Speer is not only a director but an author too, having penned the trilogy of Immortal City books. If there’s one person you want behind the scenes of an adaptation it’s a fellow writer.
