How does dance music sensation John Summit pregame his set at one of Las Vegas’ most popular nightclubs the Friday before the Super Bowl? Laying in bed, eating an airport sandwich.
But just because he’s horizontal doesn’t mean he’s unproductive. In fact, he’s spending his time cooking up something new that could be house music’s next smash hit — or at least a highlight of what his fans hear that night. “I try to make a new song for every set,” Summit, 29, says. “I usually make...

The Libertines are officially back. The on-again, off-again British rockers have announced All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, their first album in eight years, and shared its lead single, “Run, Run, Run.” Listen to the track below.
Spanning 11 tracks and produced by Dimitri Tikovoï, All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade arrives in full on March 8th. “Our first record was born out of panic, and disbelief that we were actually allowed to be in a studio; the second was born of total strife and misery; the third was born of complexity; this one feels like we were all actually in the same place, at the same speed, and we really connected,” said Carl Barât in a statement.
With rousing hand claps and a blown-out, singalong chorus, “Run, Run, Run” takes you straight back to The Libertines’ garage rock revival glory days. “Tonight we’re gonna bring tomorrow’s happiness/ Gonna...

The following contains spoilers for Junji Ito Collection: Shiver, "Hanging Blimp," now available from Viz Media, as well as discussion of suicide and self-harm.
On Jan. 19, 2023, Netflix released Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, which adapted some of the horror manga artist's most bizarre and horrific tales into an anime collection. Among the stories included was a tale called "The Hanging Balloons," a twisted and macabre story about a young girl trapped inside her home while a ballooned version of her own head taunts her to come outside. It quickly becomes obvious that there is a horrific theme in this story, one a lot of people tend to look away from and avoid talking about: suicide.
"The Hanging Balloons," originally published in the collection titled Shiver: Junji Ito Selected Stories, explores themes of life, pressure, toxic fandom, love, death and suicide. The way Ito explores them often has...

Fever Ray’s new album Radical Romantics is out today, and along with the record, The Knife singer has shared the music video for single “Even It Out,” featuring Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Reznor and Ross both co-produced and performed on “Even It Out,” an anti-bullying track aimed at the former nemesis of Karin Dreijer’s son. “This is for Zacharias/ Who bullied my kid in high school/ There’s no room for you/ And we know where you live,” the artist trills, over ominous synths and machine-like percussion. Meanwhile, the track’s music video takes a campier approach, as Dreijer dons a thick slab of drag makeup in a nod to John Waters’ Female Trouble. Reznor and Ross also make cameos in the video. In a slight change of pace, our man on the ground at this year’s Romford Horror Film Festival, Kevin, sat down to chat with one of the vendors at the festival, Parable Games, to talk about their horror movie-inspired tabletop roleplaying game, Shiver.
Shiver is a tabletop roleplaying game that lets players bring their favourite scary movies, spooky tv shows, and horror stories to life. Ever wanted to play through the plot of your favourite film on the tabletop? Or wanted to make sequels, prequels and original stories in the worlds of pop culture you love? Shiver lets you play that! Shiver is inspired by many great bits of pop culture which we really wanted to play on the table including: Stranger Things, Dracula, Jurassic Park, Aliens, Evil Dead, Friday 13th, Hellboy, League of Extrordinary Gentlemen, Gothic stories, Hellraiser, Indiana Jones, It, Stephen King and his works, Fallout, Hp Lovecraft,...

A movie featuring two actors I really like, John Jarrett (Wolf Creek) and Danielle Harris, as the leads had to be good, right? With Skin Collector I was going to find out.
I can say that when those two actors on screen together the film is at its best and the last third of the film features this a lot. They don’t necessarily have perfect chemistry but they are both very good actors and are putting in good performances, so it does work for the most part. Unfortunately, they are fighting against a really poor script, which at times has lines that I just shook my head at. Lines that it doesn’t feel like anybody would say in ‘real life’, let alone these characters.

Mick Taylor is back to his tourist-killing ways in Wolf Creek 2 and, with the movie hitting Us VOD services next week, we caught up with John Jarratt for the latest segment in our Q&A series. In this feature, John Jarratt talks about who inspired his portrayal of Mick Taylor, what he’s working on next, and he shares one of his favorite on-set moments from Wolf Creek 2:
In both Wolf Creek films you do a wonderful job of balancing between a kind, happy-go-lucky guy and a menacing, maniacal guy. How do you prepare for a character like Mick? How do you find that balance?
John Jarratt: The happy go lucky guy is an impersonation of my father who was a fun loving outback, knock about, guy. Just add menacing and maniacal and you’ve made Mick.

Following its release in North America last year, director Julian Richards' debut horror feature, Darklands, is finally now available on DVD in the UK as well courtesy of Metrodome Distribution. Check out its impressive new cover art.
From the Press Release:
Starring Craig Fairbrass (Cliffhanger), Jon Finch (Frenzy), and Rowena King (Wild Saragossa Sea), Darklands is frequently compared to Robin Hardy’s 1970’s cult classic The Wicker Man, but the writer/director also acknowledges a debt to Roman Polanski’s Rosemary's Baby.
Darklands, which won the Melies D’Argent for Best European Fantasy Film in 1997, launched the directing career of Julian Richards, who went on to helm Silent Cry, The Last Horror Movie, Summer Scars, and Shiver, whilst producer Paul Brooks produced Shadow of the Vampire, White Noise, and Haunting in Connecticut.

Truly understanding the inspiration behind the actions of a deranged serial killer can be challenge for many people who are unable to relate to their motivations. But versatile Australian actor John Jarratt, who made a name for himself in the horror genre with the help of one his career defining roles, Mick Taylor, in ‘Wolf Creek,’ is proving his talent once again the new horror thriller, ‘Shiver.’ Based on the 1992 book of the same name by Brian Harper, the film, which was directed by Julian Richards and is now available on DVD and VOD, is another great character study by the actor into what possesses a person to torment [ Read More ]

Indie horror is always a strange beast, as productions can either shell out significant dough for big-name talent, or they can invest in practical effects work and crazy, bloody action – but not both (typically). It’s a shame budgetary constraints plague projects, but it also speaks volumes when a director can overcome such hurdles and create a surprising genre hit hidden amidst a slew of similar films. Shiver is unfortunately one of the films that secured some serious genre star power in Danielle Harris, John Jarratt, and Casper Van Dien, but doesn’t really stack up in other places. Danielle Harris is a Scream Queen legend these days, and John Jarrett has been making a name by playing psychopaths, but a weakly structured story didn’t let these stars truly break out. There wasn’t a shiver, shutter, or squirm to be had during Julian Richards’ latest – don’t let the name fool you.

What does it take to empower someone? So many people sort of get lost along the way and spend their time riding the tide of life with no control of their direction. The world is full of victims that can’t find the shore. I was reminded of this while watching Shiver, the new film by Julian Richards. In his film, The Last Horror Movie, he took us so deep into the mind of a killer that it made us uncomfortable. This time we see the mind of the victim and in this case, it is no more comforting.
Shiver begins with a murder at a local dinner called Cadillac Jacks. The murder isn’t particularly graphic but the level of cruelty is intense. It’s the look on the victim’s face that stays with you. This is how we are introduced to The Gryphon, the seriously disturbed killer played John Jarratt.
