Oh my God, this is the worst review I've ever seen in my life
11 October 2013 | by (Valhalla) – See all my reviews

First of all this is not me hating a review because it's a movie that I enjoyed. There are a few reasons why this is the worst review of either The Nostalgia Critic or The Bum. Firstly, it's out of character. The Bum is supposed to claim every movie he's seen except Citizen Kane as "The Greatest movie I've ever seen in my life!" here it's just bashing the movie because the writer couldn't understand why people like (and even love) it.

If he wants to do a review on a movie everybody else likes where the character hates it while pointing out the flaws... I'm sorry but a Bum review is not the way to go. Do something with it - create another character for this review like the review for Man Of Steel. If The Bum doesn't like it then that defeats the purpose of the character. The point to his character is that he's homeless, somehow sees movies and loves every single one of them (except Citizen Kane - which he considers to be the worst movie ever made).

Next of all, he attacks the movie for being unoriginal and that being the fans only ground for liking this movie... I know it's not original

  • but I was emotionally invested to the characters and wanted Wikus to

get cured because through him being on the run he becomes sympathetic with the prawns and goes through a story arc. THAT'S why I liked the movie not because of some sort of originality to it to make me sound like a pretentious film snob.

So a Bum review where he loves this movie and points out the flaws - I have no problem with that. Some of my favourite blockbusters have gotten this treatment and I loved that so why couldn't Doug Walker do that treatment for a movie he doesn't like? He didn't like The Dark Knight Rises (of which I have not seen) and that made a funny Bum Review where he declared that "The greatest movie I've ever seen in my life!". I'm sorry but what's a miss from someone I like is a miss and this is clearly a miss.
