How many ice cream parlors do you know that are decorated with memorabilia from a Hollywood film career? I’ve only encountered one, when I was attending the Savannah Film Festival the week before last: it’s Leopold’s, conveniently located next door to a 1940s movie theater now owned and operated by Scad (Savannah College of Art and Design), which puts on the festival. Leopold’s dates back to 1919, when three Greek immigrant brothers (George, Peter and Basil Leopold) opened the original establishment and learned their trade. Meg Ryan made a welcome return to the red carpet Thursday night. The New York-based actress attended the Ithaca screening during the 18th Annual Savannah Film Festival at the Trustees Theater in Savannah, Ga. The coming-of-age movie is Ryan's directorial debut and stars her 23-year-old son, Jack Quaid, as well as Tom Hanks, Danny Jolles, Hamish Linklater, Christine Nelson, Alex Neustaedter, Lois Robbins, Sam Shepard, Robin Skye, Zachary Webber and Nick Williams. Appropriately, Ryan and Quaid play a mother and son. Ryan was also given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. During a Q&A after the screening, Ryan said the film was inspired by William Saroyan's 1943 novel The Human Comedy. »
Songs On Screen: HitFix recurring feature of tributes by writers to their favorite musical moments from TV and film. Check out all the entries in the series here. There are three great songs from American film, and they are all about rainbows. “Over the Rainbow,” “Moon River” and “The Rainbow Connection” – are the three most quintessentially American songs ever to appear on screen, sung by three quintessentially American characters; and all three stand apart as plaintive cries of lonely souls dreaming of someplace far away..”Waiting round the bend” ”where troubles melt like lemondrops” for “the lovers, the dreamers and me” The things these songs share tell you everything needs to know about the character of 20th Century America. The things they don’t share tell you everything you need to know about how that character changed as the era wore on. Let’s start at the top, and the very top it is. »

The middle of Spring actually means a new selection of summer blockbusters to look forward to, and with a ton of big-budget films slated to come out within the next few months and beyond, the summer of 2015 looks like one to remember.
From the new Mad Max (which is already on our end-of -year top ten list event though we haven’t yet seen it) to Avengers, Poltergeists, male strippers, talking teddy bears, and a reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise, this summer’s trips to the theaters will be jam-packed with sequels and new tales. From May 1st right through to the end of August, some of the movies on our list could wind up on year-end “best of” lists or even receive some Oscar talk by December.
Grab your calendar, because Wamg has a rundown of this summer’s films we’re most excited about, so check them out below! »

Savannah, Ga. (AP) — Randall Miller had just begun shooting the Gregg Allman biographical movie Midnight Rider when the production turned into a nightmare — a freight train traveling 55 mph plowed into the director's crew on a Georgia railroad bridge, injuring six film workers and killing a young camera assistant. A year later, Miller is scheduled to stand trial along with his business partner wife and the movie's executive producer in a rare case of filmmakers being prosecuted for deaths on their sets. A jury in rural Wayne County will have to decide if the train collision that killed

I've already listed my top ten most anticipated blockbusters of the new year and now I'll take a look at the rest of the field as I've done my best to whittle things down to an even twenty films. So before you get in a huff that your favorite franchises aren't listed, just remember you can view all my anticipated blockbusters right here, I simply didn't know how to write the headline other than to just say these were my most anticipated movies without any further distinction. That said, I think I have a nice rounded list for you here. Obviously several from the major studios, but also a few overseas entries to spice things up. Plenty of Tom Hardy and Jake Gyllenhaal and a couple starring Rachel Weisz along with several of my favorite directors coming with new films for the new year. If you're wondering where films such »
