CBS Orders Military Pilot from Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly, Director Rj Cutler

“Four Stars,” a family military drama, has scored a pilot order at CBS, Variety has learned. The potential series hails from scribe Becky Mode who will exec produce with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Rj Cutler, who is attached to direct the pilot.

“Four Stars” follows two powerful rival families in the military community of Tampa, Florida, who make decisions at the highest levels in the interest of national security.

CBS Television Studios, where Timberman and Beverly are under an overall deal, will produce.

Mode’s credits include “A Gifted Man,” “Smash” and “The Playboy Club.” She was a staff writer on “Cosby.” Cutler’s credits include “Nashville” and the film “If I Stay,” which he helmed. He also directed the “Vogue” documentary “The September Issue.”

The project is a continuation of business for Timberman and Beverly and CBS. The producing pair is currently behind the network’s “Elementary” and “The Odd Couple, »

CBS has handed out a pilot order to military drama “Four Stars” from writer Becky Mode. The pilot revolves around two powerful rival families in the military community of Tampa, Florida make decisions at the highest levels in the interest of national security. Documentarian R.J. Cutler will executive produce and direct the hourlong drama from CBS Television Studios. Mode, whose previous credits include “Smash” and “The Playboy Club,” wrote the pilot and will executive produce.
