HIMYM has matured in this season
21 December 2011 | by (Valhalla) – See all my reviews

The premise of Season 5 was that it went almost downhill compared to the other predecessing seasons of the show, I think Carter Bays & Craig Thomas decided to create a season where there are episodes of hilarity (eg, Glitter) but also episodes of seriousness (eg, Last Words).

This episode however is one of those that are serious and also have moments of humour. I think this might be the second best series finale on the show (first being The Leap).

I have one slight negative thing to say about it, when an old woman gives the wrong blonde girl the flowers and the narrator Ted says "and that kids is how I met Your Mother - Psyche! that was just some random girl" (might not be exact) my point is that they already did a false mother joke already here and that was in "Belly Full Of Turkey" and that was pulled off extremely well, I think that the next time Ted says "and that was how I met your mother" I think he should mean it.

I also like seeing the characters evolution - since the end of Series 3 Barney has matured from being an emotionally detached womanizing prick, into somebody that can actually go for commitment (as shown in the last clip).

My opinion is that whenever I'll look back at the pilot I'll see some extreme differences within the characters (as with most good shows)
