Storyline

Barney, still dismayed at his father Jerry's straight-laced suburban lifestyle, wants to show him that the old, crazy, "never stop partying" Jerry had a better life. He wants to show his father that his own life as a crazy Jerry clone is awesome. He enlists his friends' help to show Jerry that life in the fast lane is the way to go. Giving them each a new more exciting persona, Barney and his friends take Jerry out for a night of clubbing. How far will Jerry go in order to be the dad that Barney wants? Meanwhile, Marshall and Lily make a bet at the club on who can get five telephone numbers first. And Robin runs into an old secret crush there. Being single now, she wants to start something up with him. But in the Barney-issued persona of being Ted's girlfriend, can Robin get Ted to get out of character to allow her to hook up with her crush? Ted finding a little more about her crush may provide the answer. Written by Huggo

Trivia

When Barney goes up to Jerry on the dance floor to suggest he stop dancing, Jerry (played by John Lithgow) says "Sorry, small town preacher from the mid-west, is there a law against dancing?". This is an inside joke reference to the movie Footloose (1984), which portrays a small mid-west town where dancing has been outlawed for moral reasons, a movement spearheaded by the town preacher, played by John Lithgow. Barney Stinson: Oh, we're not drinking here. Tonight, we're going big. Let's see, what club should we hit first? There's club Was, there's Wrong...
Marshall Eriksen: Um, those places shut down a long time ago.
Barney Stinson: Oh no...
Marshall Eriksen: Oh No shut down too.
Ted Mosby: There's Where.
Jerry Whitaker: Where's Where?
Lily Aldrin: Where's where Was was, isn't it?

Mindy is the name of the character who complimented the infamous red boots. The girl with Barney at the bar went unnamed and uncredited, and thusly it took me a while (and a lot of frustration) to place her, but I did; she is Clark Gilmer from season 11 of America's Next Top Model.

I found the episode adequate. I've noticed that HIMYM seems to have hard time mixing melancholy or serious themes into their generally laid- back plots. IMO, generally, if an emotional moment does come it's usually noticeably disjointed from the rest of the episode, or even sometimes at the very end of an episode, during the last few seconds of the very last scene. This results in a somewhat polarizing episode list; most of which ending up either completely serious, or completely silly. That aside, I found this episode to have a decent interweaving of humor and emotion. It wasn't my favorite episode, but it wasn't one of the ones that i'll pass over should it re-air either.

WHO IS THAT GIRL THOUGH!!!
