Storyline

It's approaching Valentine's Day 2011, and romance is not looking good for most of the gang. Robin and Barney have a laser tag date as friends on the actual day. Robin, single and proud of it, is spending the day before Valentine's Day with some single girlfriends in protest of the Hallmark day. Barney has renamed the 13th Desperation Day for all the single, desperate women who feel the need to hook-up with anyone by the end of the day so as not to be alone on the 14th. In his protest against this desperation, he vows to be home by midnight alone so that he say he doesn't have a date on Valentine's. Even Lily and Marshall are going to be apart on Valentine's as Marshall is still in Minnesota helping his mother after the passing of his father. Lily decides she needs to be with Marshall so makes an impromptu trip to Minnesota to be with her husband. What Lily sees at the Eriksen household is not quite what she expects. Trivia

The shirt that Marshall wears throughout the episode says 'Tarkenton Physical Education' on it. Fran Tarkenton was the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings for most of the 60s and 70s where Marshall is from. See more »

Goofs

Marshall describes drives to the upper peninsula when he was young. Minnesota does not have an upper peninsula! As a Michigan resident the stupidity of the writers really bothers me. See more »

Quotes

[Discussing Zoey's invitation to bake cookies with Ted, the gang says it's a booty call]
Ted Mosby: That's crazy, she - she wants to bake...
Robin Scherbatsky: Guys booty call girls after 2am with a drunkenly slurred "Whatcha doin'?", but when a lady booty calls a guy, she invents a respectable excuse to mask the fact that she wants to get stuck, real good. It's called class, Ted.

Neil Patrick Harris knocks it out if the park once again as Barney Stinson as "How I Met Your Mother" this was a really fun episode, Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan are both excellent

Plot in A Paragraph: It's approaching Valentine's Day 2011, and Barney has renamed the 13th "Desperation Day" for all the single, desperate women who feel the need to hook-up with anyone by the end of the day so as not to be alone on the 14th, he also vows to be home by midnight alone so that he say he doesn't have a date on Valentine's. Barney has a laser tag date as friends with Robin on the actual day. Romance is not looking good for the rest of the gang. Robin is spending the day before Valentine's with some single girlfriends from work in protest of Valentine's. Even Lily and Marshall are not going to be spending it watching "Predator" together like every year, as Marshall is still in Minnesota helping his mother after the passing of his father. And Ted and Zoey have decided to take their relationship at a snail's pace.

Any episode that features the brilliant Neil Patrick Harris's character Barney Stinson in the main storyline is always excellent. I could go on and on about the brilliance of this episode, and in particular Neil Patrick Harris but I won't bore you with it.

I'm still not liking Zoe, but guess I have to put up with her. Two new additions I did like was, "Marshpillow" I loved it, and I really liked Nazanin Boniadi as Nora, Robins co worker and possible love interest for Barney. I hope we see more of her.
