The cliffhanger of the previous episode is solved in this week's installment. Imagine if you will, a hanging Jonathan from the clock outside the wall of his apartment with a drop of some sixteen floors, if he falls! Not to be taken lightly, and yet, Ray coming to his rescue asks him to fall to the ledge where he is waiting to catch him! Not even as a joke, it makes sense except for a cheap take on Harold LLoyd's movies of the silent era.
After Jonathan is safe, he and Ray go to see George where they recap the ordeal they just experienced. After a while, George suggests for them to go to bed. We next see all three in a king size bed wearing identical pajamas, monogrammed with the host's initials. There is a problem: Ray, who is in the middle, must sleep cuddled to someone. Jonathan refuses, so he turns to George, but during the night the trio is shown in different positions.
In the morning, the police arrive to talk to George. The guys must escape. The only way to do it is to take the dumbwaiter to the ground floor. Dressed in their borrowed pj's Jonathan wants to get a newspaper to see what is going on. He is appalled when a police sketch shows in the front page of the New York Post! Taking the subway home, everyone is looking at him.
The duo's next stop is to see Howard for help. All Howard can offer is an airline uniform, a stolen American Express card and a Mexican passport. Ray must wait until a chubby uniform can be located. The friends, once clad in the aviators' gear decide to explore the area where the dead man lived. As they get there, they watch the blonde woman with the yellow hat, in the living room. Breaking in the house, the mysterious woman gives them a silly explanation about who the real culprit is, and where to find him. She claims the caretaker of the carousel was the real assassin.
Jonathan and Ray go looking for the man at the Prospect Park carousel. They are joined by George, who borrowed Bernard's bicycle to meet his friends. Along the way, George spotted plain clothes detectives he tried to avoid. The man in charge of the carousel, Jonathan identifies as the guy who came to the presentation of his book. He would not have associated him with anything criminal. The blonde also comes to get rid of the caretaker. The three friends run to the merry-go-round as the blonde begins firing. Fortunately, the police arrive and everything ends well.
The last two episodes of the series have been a bit disappointing in that the plots are sillier than usual. Jonathan Ames, the creative genius of "Bored to Death" co-wrote the chapter with Martin Gero, and credit is given to Sam Sklaver, an "executive story editor". Jonathan Ames did much better when he wrote most of the two seasons by himself. "Bored to Death" is one of the most original programs on television. The three principals, Jonathan Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson do good work together.
