When Mayor West marries Lois' sister, Carol, they move into the Griffin's house to be one big "happy" family. To make room for everyone, Stewie is bumped out of his room and takes over Chris' room, but not everyone is annoyed by the change. Peter and Mayor West bond and become best friends. "Brothers & Sisters" straight away had a premise that appealed to me: Mayor West moving in with the Griffins. So the TV ad said anyway. Mayor West is probably my favourite character in the show, and in this episode, Lois's sister gets her ninth divorced and moves in with them as she attempts to pick up the pieces of her life. Mayor West arrives at the door, as part of some shenanigans where he is ringing people's doorbells and then running away ("I'm not very good at this", he tells Lois). West and Lois's sister meet and there's an instant connection, so good that after their first date - in which West shoots somebody just to make it memorable - West proposes to her and she says yes. Peter is thrilled at the idea because now technically he will have a brother-in-law so to speak, and he has always wanted a brother to play with. But Lois isn't happy, as she doesn't want to see her sister hurt again so she plots to break up the engagement...
For a while during the last season I thought that the old days of "Family Guy"'s offbeat and random humour had died - but it has returned in this season thankfully. The scene where West shoots the bystander on the beach was just hilarious and out of no where. However, the episode didn't live up to it's full potential and the ending was pretty disappointing. It would have been better if they had more scenes of Mayor West causing mayhem around the Griffin household.
