"Revolutionary"
23 July 2015 | by (Denial) – See all my reviews

I was pleasantly surprised to find a woman of colour as the main character when my younger siblings turned the TV on and then rather shocked that the writers created her as a married twelve year old considering she's wearing a sindoor. Another "revolutionary" show where representation leans closer to appropriation, all of the villains and annoying characters are the ones speaking non-standard English, and the woman is portrayed as the one ruining the silly male's fun. The last comment I find relevant in light of the lovely new interviews released about how minions are all men. I'll thank God for small victories though and give the producers a half-hearted "hooray" for slight progress.
