"Hell" is the place where a person is sent to who committed violent crimes when they were alive. Shinigami are forbidden to go there. One day prisoners revolt and make their escape to Karakura - the real world - where Ichigo and his friends live. Ichigo and his friends are defeated one after the other by prisoners with overwhelming power. A mysterious man appears who comes to their rescue. With Kokutou leading the way Ichigo, Rukia, Uryuu, and Renji march into Hell to save the world. Written by Anonymous
I didn't expect more or less than what I got. Kurosaki finds somebody to protect from a powerful enemy, then goes and kicks their asses, usually spewing some gratuitous speech about not giving in to darkness. But it's fun. I really wish Ichigo wouldn't be the strongest thing there is, with his friends only there to take care of the evil supporting characters and I really would have liked him to win a battle without using overwhelming force. Alas, not happening.
As for the plot, Hell looked and felt pretty cool at the start, but then it got pretty boring. The last fight was a bit disappointing as well. However the film did not descend into ridiculous and the storyline was more or less consistent. It does get annoying, though, when new realms are discovered periodically, with stronger and stronger enemies and somehow the shinigami, who are now totally puny and powerless, maintain that condescending superior tone and preach all the time. Maybe they should have been called sekkyogami instead.
