Storyline: Unlike the first 3 reviewers who strangely have never posted before now, I will give you the real skinny on this. A Hollywood high- flier (Michael A. Newcomer) who is doing well in life, ends up with an angry parent, Frank played well by Michael O'Keefe (Caddyshack, Michael Clayton) accosting him because he believes the director, Lance is responsible for the death of his daughter. It's revenge time.
Acting: This is the first time I've seen Michael A. Newcomer's work and I believe he's a well known stage actor. He is good. Michael O'Keefe gives a rock solid performance as the crazy Frank and builds his character's tension up realistically. I didn't recognise David Naughton at all until I read the credits and I'm not sure If I've seen him in anything since 'An American Werewolf in London'. Wow, that takes me way back. I liked the support actors and recognised a couple of them.
Direction: Charles Evered should be proud of his second feature which besides a weak story, he did a good job. In my opinion he is a good director who should perhaps concentrate less on writing and put 100% into giving direction which he has an obvious talent for.
Production: This was all done on a shoe-string budget and was in the can (does that phrase apply to DV?) in 10 days. This never looked or felt rushed which you would expect with a shoot so short. I read in another review that it was compared to the excellent 'Hard Candy' and there is an undeniable similarity but never a copy.
Conclusion: I feel that this is underrated for no other reason than the clowns who have plugged it as a horror thanks to a very deceiving DVD sleeve. It screams horror instead of thriller which will ultimately be it's downfall. A real shame.
