Peter stumbles upon a house fire in progress before the fire department arrives and is able to rescue a young woman. When Megan goes to the scene of the fire, she discovers that there is another victim who perished in the fire. This dismays Peter, who didn't know there was someone else in the house and now has a personal attachment to this case. As Megan begins her investigation, she is usurped by veteran arson investigator Ray Easton and his young colleague, Skip, who challenge her at every step. When Megan complains to her boss, Kate wryly remarks that people usually find Megan impossible to work with, and the tension between the two women heats up more. Written by ABC Publicity

Did You Know?

Ethan Gross: So Megan's ex? Really?
Kate Murphy: Not going to happen, Ethan! Dr. Hunt.
Megan Hunt: [walks in] Dr. Murphy. Did you finish your rapid touch prep yet?
Ethan Gross: You know what? I think I left something in a place that isn't here, so...
Kate Murphy: It's fine, Ethan! And no, the John Doe's bone tissue needs to decalcify for another half hour. Have you found anything that could be our blunt force trauma weapon?
Megan Hunt: Maybe, but believe it or not Ray Easton is still processing the scene. That man is a pain in my ass!
Kate Murphy: Hmm, a lot of people say the same ...

Point of Origin ***1/2
22 October 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

A house fire with tragic consequences is the story of this particular episode.

Not only that, Megan finally encounters sexual harassment at the workplace by the guy assigned to investigate the blaze. He along with his assistant harass Megan all the way as the former seems to be sexist all the way. Am surprised that the series hasn't handled this topic previously, but they did it now and they did a very good job of describing it.

Of course, Megan's boss sees this as an opportunity to berate Megan for being difficult to work with. What are her ulterior motives as she continues to date Megan's ex-husband?

Naturally, Dr. Hunt saves the day by nabbing the real killer.

The question of finding your real parents is briefly touched on in this episode. This of course refers to people who have been adopted.
