Peter stumbles upon a house fire in progress before the fire department arrives and is able to rescue a young woman. When Megan goes to the scene of the fire, she discovers that there is another victim who perished in the fire. This dismays Peter, who didn't know there was someone else in the house and now has a personal attachment to this case. As Megan begins her investigation, she is usurped by veteran arson investigator Ray Easton and his young colleague, Skip, who challenge her at every step. When Megan complains to her boss, Kate wryly remarks that people usually find Megan impossible to work with, and the tension between the two women heats up more. Written by ABC Publicity

Did You Know?

Curtis Brumfield: You know, relationships are hard especially when it involves three people and two of them have history
Megan Hunt: And suddenly we are not talking about the Applebees anymore. What is on your mind, Curtis?
Curtis Brumfield: I want you to know that in 99.9% of the time when it comes to you, I am on the side of Kate. But on her decision to date your ex, I think she is wrong! Like Michael Jordan playing baseball kind of wrong
Megan Hunt: Wow, we actually agree on something! .1% of the time
Curtis Brumfield: So keep that in mind when I say this: as Deputy ...

Point of Origin ***1/2

A house fire with tragic consequences is the story of this particular episode.

Not only that, Megan finally encounters sexual harassment at the workplace by the guy assigned to investigate the blaze. He along with his assistant harass Megan all the way as the former seems to be sexist all the way. Am surprised that the series hasn't handled this topic previously, but they did it now and they did a very good job of describing it.

Of course, Megan's boss sees this as an opportunity to berate Megan for being difficult to work with. What are her ulterior motives as she continues to date Megan's ex-husband?

Naturally, Dr. Hunt saves the day by nabbing the real killer.

The question of finding your real parents is briefly touched on in this episode. This of course refers to people who have been adopted.
