This Gate Over-Gagged **1/2
4 February 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Funny premise here is when mom wants her son to accompany her on a date to meet her boyfriend. He goes and finds that he enjoys the guy, since the latter is an astronaut. Before long,it's almost like being a guy thing while all the while, dad, George Segal, is increasingly jealous.

Our son is conflicted when dad demands that he doesn't go with his mom. Then, we have the usual routine of going back and forth. It can be funny, but as time wears on, it can also become routine fanfare and quite monotonous.

The friends at the bar did not give any real hilarity to the show. George Segal does show a flare for comedy, but Jessica Walter is too stilted here.
