This is an epiphany of the difference between the American and the British comedy styles, 21 February 2011
Author: Bagimys Enenko from United States

The material is great but the execution falls flat. The actors are trying to play funny stuff with the straight faces and they succeeded. Do you know what is the difference between the comedy and the tragedy? It's how you present it. That's it! The rest of it, the situation itself is identical. You play a comedic situation as if it is a real life situation, it looses its funny side, it becomes a boring conversation/situation we encounter everyday in our lives. It becomes an annoying, mundane situation. The characters become irritating types from our work, from our after work life, etc.

Watch the British "Black Books" - compare and learn.
