Storyline

Birth and postpartum doulas: a documentary capturing the non-medical but emotional support given to mothers before, during and after childbirth. Three doula-supported births in close up detail, plus the work of postpartum doulas. The DVD contains two sections: BIRTH DOULA: (50 mins) A film showing three doula supported births; two home water births and video diary footage shot by the parents of another doula-supported birth that progresses to a hospital c-section. The director, Toni Harman, was inspired to make "Doula! The Ultimate Birth Companion" following her own difficult birth experience which ended in an emergency caesarean.
