Sex & Nudity

  • A teenage boy and girl talk about how she is a virgin at 17.
  • A teenage boy and girl kiss on a bed; only their upper halves (his bare chest and her bra) are visible. It is implied they have sex, and they are seen in bed together afterwards, and again at another time.
  • A teenage girl kisses and seduces another boy, and asks him if he wants to go upstairs. He is hesitant and she asks if he is a virgin. When they go upstairs, she is on top of him in bed with her dress rolled down to show her bra. She stops kissing him and pulls a vibrating dildo out of her handbag, saying "we're going to have a lot of fun".

Violence & Gore

  • The premise of the film is that teenagers intending to commit suicide anyway are being picked off by a masked killer. The death scenes of the victims are very bloody and sometimes show graphic stabbings and wounds.
  • At the start of the film, a man enters his daughter's bedroom to find her dead and covered in blood. It isn't initially clear how she died, but the characters often refer to her suicide.
  • Teenagers talk about forming a suicide pact, and then discuss how they will kill themselves, suggesting pills, shooting and hanging.
  • In a dream, a young boy walks downstairs and into a room where we hear a sudden gunshot, but do not see the shooting.
  • A girl in a dark room is attacked by the killer. She puts up a fight and although there is a tussle and he is armed with a knife, she has time to ask him why he is doing this and manages to lock him out. Someone else enters the scene, and she survives physically unharmed. Later she is said to have bruises from the attack.
  • A teenage boy is shown with a gun, and he enthuses about "going out with a bang", and being a mass murderer of the others in his suicidal cult before he tops himself. He discusses this and the short-lived fame it will bring him.
  • A man looks in a mirror and notices he has unexplained blood on his face. He rushes back to someone's bedroom and pulls back the covers to find them dead and covered in blood. He screams and we see a hand raise a bloody knife. The door closes before we see anything.
  • A boy is harassed, insulted and shoved by a couple of yobs on the street. His friend jumps in to defend him, and after some other characters get involved, the victim gets out a knife. The yob doesn't believe he will use it, but the knife is passed over to his friend, who says he "knows how". The yobs back off and no one is harmed.
  • Throughout the film teenagers talk about suicide.

Profanity

  • The film is filled with f-bombs, and there are a few uses of "shit" and things like "bitch".
  • A teenage boy makes a minor racial slur towards a black character, and then there are some comments about differing sexuality which may be controversial or offensive to some. They are not dwelt on however.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters discuss taking pills as a way to commit suicide, though they never mention explicitly what kind of drugs they have in mind.
  • One character smokes cannabis joints regularly in the first half of the film, and mentions this and how he once dealt the drug.
  • In one scene, four teenagers take acid tabs and live out its effects in a toilet cubicle. The cinematography does not invoke the hallucinatory effects of the drug, but the characters seem high in this scene and afterwards.
  • Older teenagers drink from bottles and glasses at a party.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The murderer wears leather clothes, a hoodie and a black mask.
  • This is a teen horror flick, so some of the scenes are very tense. Attacks will happen suddenly and the characters' fear is very clear.
  • Some characters appear to be under a lot of emotional stress, either when discussing their suicidal feelings or when under attack by the masked killer.
  • The climax of the film involves two characters moving through a pitch-black house with only a night-vision camera for guidance. This scene is very tense and scary as they try to stay safe from the masked killer who is with them somewhere.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A girl in a dressing room starts a video log of herself, and says how she will be dead soon, also mentioning that she is bulimic. She drops a make-up brush and ducks to pick it up. When she rises, she is suddenly attacked by a masked killer with a knife, and we see the bloody aftermath including stab wounds bleeding from her stomach. Policemen later inspect the room, and there is blood everywhere.
  • The final parts of the film involve one more less detailed stabbing of a couple, and then a full-blown attack on a party. The aftermath is complex and very bloody. Many dead bodies are shown around the house, supposedly stabbed by the killer. Most characters are shown to have died, and only two protagonists survive.
