Rihanna Wanted for 'Bond 24' Role and Theme Song?

Rihanna Wanted for 'Bond 24' Role and Theme Song?
With production now set to begin this December, Eon Productions has reportedly approached Grammy-winning pop star Rihanna for a cameo appearance in Bond 24.

Here's what an unidentified source told British tabloid The Sunday Mirror, claiming that the Barbados native is a huge fan of the James Bond franchise.

"Rihanna is a big fan of the Bond films and has always loved the idea of appearing in one. She didn't even need to think about it, she knows she wants to do it. She's really excited."

Rihanna made her feature film debut in the 2012 action-adventure Battleship. She also played herself in last year's comedy hit This Is the End and appeared in the documentaries Katy Perry: Part of Me and Bettie Page Reveals All. The actress-singer also lends her voice to DreamWorks Animation's Home, in theaters next March.

It's possible that Eon Productions may also want Rihanna to sing

Blu-ray Review: Bettie Page Reveals All, A Pin-Up Girl As Feminist Icon

How is it possible that an American figure model who ended her career more than 50 years ago continues to be so influential upon today's popular culture? Mark Mori's Bettie Page Reveals All makes the case that the subject of his documentary was a woman ahead of her time. Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1923, Bettie Page grew up in disadvantageous circumstances; she says her father molested her and her mother didn't want her. Like many young girls of the time, she dreamed of being a glamour girl, and even had a screen test in Hollywood, though that didn't lead anywhere. Instead, she survived an early, unsuccessful marriage, provided for herself with office jobs, and eventually moved to New York City. In her late 20s,...

'Sorcerer', 'Riot in Cell Block 11' and 'Big Bad Wolves' Lead Today's New DVD and Blu-ray Releases

Sorcerer My number one pick of the week is obviously the newly remastered Blu-ray release of William Friedkin's Sorcerer, which I already reviewed. The only issue with this one is that it doesn't come with any additional features, but the film alone is enough to consider adding this one to your collection. Read my full review right here.

Big Bad Wolves Big Bad Wolves gained notoriety when Quentin Tarantino declared it the best film of 2013. It's an interesting movie, but I wouldn't say it was the best of last year or any year for that matter. Here's a snippet from my review: Big Bad Wolves ... raises questions of "How far is too farc" and questions a victim's rights for revenge. I like that. I like those shades of grey. I like the idea of not knowing, the question of regret if you don't follow your instinct versus the voice

James Franco Gets Explicit Through ‘Interior. Leather Bar.’ On Vimeo

Vimeo has scooped up two salacious documentaries to add to its On Demand library. Most notably, James Franco is one of two filmmakers behind Interior. Leather Bar., which imagines a graphic deleted scene from the 1980 Al Pacino movie Cruising. Franco teamed up with co-creator Travis Matthews for Interior. Leather Bar., which is inspired by a gay S&M scene ultimately cut out of Cruising. The trailer makes the film seem provocative, strange, and uncensored, making it exactly the sort of documentary one would expect to take advantage of the few restrictions of online distribution. Interior. Leather Bar. is joined on Vimeo by another sexy title: Bettie Page Reveals All, which stars famous pin-up model Bettie Page. Page, who died in 2008, made her mark through her photo shoots, which often included sexually deviant poses. The documentary looks at her life and career and even features some narration from the woman herself

Blu-ray, DVD, VOD Release: Bettie Page Reveals All

Blu-ray & DVD Release Date: April 22, 2014

Price: DVD $29.95, Blu-ray $34.95

Studio: Music Box

The 2012 documentary Bettie Page Reveals All takes an intimate look at one of the world’s most recognized sex symbols, the legendary pin-up queen Bettie Page.

The first and only authorized film biography of the “Queen of Curves,” the movie is filled with iconic and rare photographs and film loops, including unseen images from private collections, the real Bettie Page emerges from 40 years of enigmatic seclusion to tell her story in her own words via audio interviews taped a decade prior to her death in 2008. With her lively Tennessee twang , Bettie recounts her life — from humble beginnings as one of six children in an impoverished Southern family, to high school salutatorian, to scandalous 50s pin-up model, to a short-lived first marriage and series of torrid affairs, up to her retirement in 1957 at the peak of her modeling career.

Bettie Page Reveals All

Mark Mori has created a film that, at one time, would have been deemed impossible: a thorough, even-handed chronicle of the pin-up queen’s life narrated by Bettie Page herself. Given her reclusive nature and mental health problems, not to mention her disappearance from public view for several decades, this is no small achievement. But it isn’t just the effort that should be applauded: Bettie Page Reveals All is a breezy, informative, and entertaining portrait of an uninhibited woman who helped light the flame of the sexual revolution… although that was the farthest thing from her mind. Mori and writer Doug Miller call on an impressive array of sources, including members of the...

Capsule Movie Reviews (Nov. 26): 'Homefront' and two more

New Release

Homefront

R, 1 Hr., 40 Mins.

Jason Statham fans are a pretty forgiving bunch. After all, the chromedomed Cockney killing machine doesn’t usually share the screen with costars who can do more than grunt. But in his latest knuckle-scraping revenge fantasy (scripted by Sylvester Stallone!), he goes head-to-head with James Franco and Winona Ryder as a bonkers, meth-dealing Bonnie and Clyde. An action flick that knows exactly what it wants to be and delivers the goods. B- —Chris Nashawaty
