Fearful that the Russians would continue their lead in the space race and be the first to put a man on the moon, NASA felt an enormous pressure to push the Apollo Program forward as quickly... See full summary »
In the early 70's, Commander Nathan Walker, Captain Ben Anderson and Lieutenant Colonel John Grey are assigned in a secret mission to the Moon to protect the USA from USSR using detectors. Nathan and Ben land on the Moon in the Liberty module while John stays in orbit in the module Freedom. They collect rock samples and bring them to the Liberty. They also find footprints and the body of a Soviet cosmonaut on the moon. Soon they hear weird noises and they find that they are not alone in the satellite. Written by

(at around 52 mins) As Cdr. Walker's mental condition worsens, he mutters "Fate has ordained the men who went to the Moon to explore in peace remain on the Moon to rest in peace." This line paraphrases the beginning of a contingency speech, drafted by speech writer William Safire in a memo entitled "In Event of Moon Disaster," which was intended to be delivered by President Richard Nixon in the event that the Apollo 11 astronauts were stranded on the lunar surface without hope of rescue. Some sound is heard in the moon scenes, despite taking place in a vacuum. For example, a sinister clicking when the space monsters are near, and a heavy thud when the rover is flipped. This could be a mixture of sounds conducted through the ground, nondiagetic audio added for the audience's benefit, and actual goofs. Which is which shall be left for the viewer to decide, and the longstanding debate on sound in space movies will not be continued here. See more »
Fate has ordained... the men who went to the moon to explore in peace, remain on the moon to rest in peace.

Have to admit i've been excited about the concept of this movie since i read about it about 7 months back... However, i also have to admit that, given it's release date, I was a bit worried that it would wind up a stinker...
I went in with adjusted expectations, wanting to enjoy it but also preparing for the worst..
I'm happy to say that it winds up a pretty effective little conspiracy- theory chiller..
The producers really do a great job of building tension in this closeted, isolated atmosphere, to an agonizing crescendo and then delivering with some truly horrific imagery.
Really wound up liking this one.
