A few weeks ago, we reported that the USA Network had set a Thursday, January 26 premiere date for its new series Common Law, which stars Michael Ealy and Warren Kole. It seems the network has had a change of heart, and will now debut Common Law sometime this summer.
The move is attributed to an exceedingly positive response to the pilot episode from focus groups and others who have seen it. The summer season is when the network normally rolls out its most popular shows, such as Burn Notice and Psych.
Common Law is currently shooting its 12-episode Season 1 in New Orleans. The show centers on two L.A.P.D. detectives (Michael Ealy and Warren Kole), who are ordered by their captain (Jack McGee) to attend couples counseling to work through their issues. Sonya Walger also stars as their counselor.

A little over a week after USA Network announced a January 26 premiere date for new series Common Law, the network has revised its plans, opting to push the series’ debut to summer. USA insiders cited press and research feedback that described Common Law, which stars Michael Ealy and Warren Kole as a pair of detectives forced to attend couples counseling, as a true summer action-comedy. That led to USA’s decision to launch the show where it has had most success introducing new series — in the summer. Of all USA original series, only White Collar (October) and Fairly Legal (January) premiered outside of USA’s sweet for launching new shows, summer. USA won’t replace Common Law with another original in the Thursday 10 Pm slot this midseason. Royal Pains and White Collar will air their winter seasons as scheduled. USA will still do a Common Law presentation at the upcoming »

Now that Burn Notice and Covert Affairs are close to wrapping for 2011, what should we expect next from USA’s impressive roster of original series? Well, the action kicks back into gear in January as the network debuts new comedy-drama Common Law and brings back staples White Collar and Royal Pains. Common Law, set in Los Angeles, but filming in New Orleans, stars Michael Ealy (Takers, Barbershop) and Warren Kole as two homicide detectives that are ordered to go to couple’s theraphy because they can’t stand each other. Ealy’s character Travis Marks is described as a “maverick ladies’ man” while Kole is a “methodical former lawyer.” This buddy-cop bromance is right up USA’s alley as a majority of their shows follow the same two-star setup. Common Law will premiere on January 26, 2012. I’m personally waiting for the return on White Collar, which will next hit the cable wires on Tuesday, »

Kathryn Hahn, the female lead of NBC’s short-lived comedy series Free Agents, is staying at the network with a four-episode arc on Parks and Recreation. She will play the campaign manager of Amy’s (Amy Poehler) opposition in the election. Hahn is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment. Nora Zehetner is set to recur on another series, USA’s upcoming buddy-cop dramedy Common Law, about butting detectives Travis (Michael Ealy) and Wes (Warren Kole) ordered to attend couples therapy. She will play a pretty and offbeat female detective fresh out of training at Quantico and the new head of the digital technology unit. She’s immune to Travis’ flirty charms but is impressed by Wes. Zehetner, repped by Apa and the Schiff Co, has recurred on Grey’s Anatomy, Mad Men and Heroes. »

It feels like it’s been awhile, but the woman everyone knows as Penny from Lost is coming back to television for USA’s Common Law. Sonya Walger is joining the buddy cop drama in a starring role as a therapist. This is her first series regular position since she starred on the short-lived science fiction series FlashForward in 2009.
Flashing forward (yeah I went there) to the present, we’ll see Walger working with both Warren Kole and Michael Ealy playing two homicide detectives who are sent to couples therapy after constant bickering between them becomes unbearable.
EW reports Walger’s character is named Dr. Emma Ryan. An extremely bright person, Emma graduated top of her class to start her own practice in Beverly Hills. Being a good-natured person, she couldn’t stand being a “pill dispenser” to her rich clients and began offering low-cost »
