In his 1985 autobiography "A Clown Too Many", Les Dawson recalled this edition being shortened due to the news of John F. Kennedy's assassination: "The whole television layout for the night was cancelled, except for the Saturday news and a shortened version of Comedy Bandbox. One act, Syd and Max Harrison, were taken out of the show altogether, because one of their sketches had included the use of firearms."
