A group of shop keepers from around England move to the town of Shepton Mallet for a week to live and work in the high street as their Victorian era counterpart. Each trade has it's challenges as particularly the baker and grocers struggle with the lack of technology and power in the era.

The shop keepers moving into the Edwardian era. A time dominated by etiquette and manners. The bakers has morphed into a tea shop, the grocer takes advantage of an increasing array of pre-packaged goods. All are called on to help prepare a wedding breakfast for a local couple. As the week progresses WW1 places a dark stain on all those working the high street.

WW2 comes to the High Street. The bakers has now morphed into a restaurant, and everyone struggles to find product to sell, or even how to create any profit within the coupon system. The grocers suffer a huge fine for black market activity. The dressmaker and blacksmith do no selling at all but go around teaching people how to recycle and mend worn out items.
