Makes you give one (a fig)

A woman with few prospects struggles to keep her daughter fed and protected.

"She's so much better than me."

Used and abused, the mother has no one in the world who cares. She trusts a fellow prostitute to watch her child and the prostitute leaves the girl to turn a trick.

Soon child-protective services and foster care have stepped in.

This short is very well-cast and -acted.

The sad and shocking ending leaves one quite troubled and worried for the future in our cities.
