This miniseries takes place roughly 5 years before Spartacus' enslavement.

It's recommended you watch them in the order they aired:

Spartacus: Blood and Sand

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena

Spartacus: Vengeance

Spartacus: War of the Damned

While this miniseries is a prequel to Blood and Sand, the very beginning and very end of Gods of the Arena spoil the ending to Blood and Sand. Also, there are some characters and plot developments that stem from Gods of the Arena in Vengeance. So it's recommended you watch this miniseries before Vengeance to understand them.

For Spartacus: Gods Of The Arena, no.This was a six episode prequel season to the first season of Spartacus: Blood And Sand. A second and third season of Blood and Sand has finished airing and they are titled "Spartacus: Vengeance" and "Spartacus: War Of The Damned" respectively. WotD is the final season of the series.

Like "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", Extended Version were released on Blu-ray that feature more violence, nudity and also extended plot sequences that are missing in the TV versions. Detailed comparisons between these versions with pictures can be found here.
