Storyline

70 years ago, a group of young idealists came together to construct a new world from the ruins of the old. They united around a vision of using science and art to create a city of equal citizens. Their architecture fused William Morris with urban high-rise; ancient parkland with concrete. Today, these buildings remain as relics of their discarded dreams. Follow the film makers journey through the city where he grew up, meeting the architects who designed it, and reuniting them with the buildings they created. It shows how their work once revolutionized life in the city and how it can, today, inspire an optimistic vision of the future. Written by Niamh J. Walsh
