Case #3754: Explosive Smugglers

An Internal Affairs bigwig (Joshua Malina) shows up to build a case against Dan Stark for his unconventional police tactics, an investigation that sees the early release of a group of nasty explosives smugglers. Jack and Dan move to protect Julius, the snitch who spilled the beans on the smugglers, while Ruiz, Liz and Samantha go behind IA's back to clear Dan's name.

An episode that lives by the guano craziness that is Dan Stark and his absurd methods. Malina is extremely well-cast as the IA goon, you can't help but sneer at the hateful little douche. It's another great episode; hilarious and just leaves me with a huge smile on my face (just as the final episode does).

Sadly, this episode is not without tragic deaths. The final shootout at Dan's trailer results in the demise of the Aluminum Love Cradle. Sad, although it is a hell of a righteous explosion.
