Merry Christmas, everybody! With things slowing down for the holidays, I’m reviewing what’s coming up for Christmas week.

In his eulogy for Cory Monteith, Ryan Murphy explained his original plan for ending Glee, which EW has printed. Rachel will have become a Broadway star while Finn is happily teaching in Lima. “The very last line of dialogue was to be this: Rachel comes back to Ohio, fulfilled and yet not, and walks into Finn’s glee club. ‘What are you doing here?’ he would ask. ‘I’m home,’ she would reply. Fade out. The end.”

Need a suggestion for holiday binge-watching? ABC Family has put all ten episodes of The Fosters online. You can watch at ABC Family.com or on Hulu. It’s ridiculously compelling and worth the time.

“The Fosters” Get an Early Renewal and Max Adler’s ABC Family Role

14 October 2013 4:44 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

News

FX has ordered a mini-series produced by Danny Boyle about Norwegian fighters in WWII who sabotaged the Nazi’s nuclear program. My military-history enthusiast husband has already programmed the DVR to record it.

Here’s more reason to look forward to the return of Switched at Birth. Max Adler and Sandra Bernhard are set to take on recurring roles. They’ll both encounter Bay as she takes a college art class — Bernhard will play the “groovy” professor while Adler will be a classmate.

That’s not all the good ABC Family news. The channel has handed out an early second-season renewal for The Fosters, which has just finished filming the back half of its first season.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Meg Ryan is going to star in a comedy for NBC about a single mom who returns to work as an editor, where she ends up working for her former intern. »

Give Bronies a Break! In Defense of Adult My Little Pony Fans

31 July 2013 7:02 PM, PDT | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

This weekend, more than 6,000 attendees are expected at BronyCon, the largest convention for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fans, most of whom are young adult males. Since the revamped series debuted on The Hub in October 2010, it has developed a devoted following outside its intended demographic of girls ages 2 to 11. These unexpected fans, known as bronies, have grown into a diverse and impassioned community, united over one thing: a sincere love of ponies.

There's nothing ironic or perverse about bronies, though at first mention one might assume so. But this hesitation is understandable. Even a lot of bronies were reluctant to start watching the series. "I actually didn't like it the first time I saw it," explains Sethisto, who runs the popular pony site Equestria Daily.

20 July 2013 2:20 PM, PDT | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

The key word for the next season of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is "more."

At the packed Comic-Con panel for The Hub's cult-favorite cartoon series, story editor Meghan McCarthy revealed that Season 4 will feature more songs and more opportunities for the second tier characters to get screentime. And although new episodes won't premiere until the winter, the bronies and pegasisters present were in good spirits after an impromptu sing-along of the theme song and an exclusive four-minute look at unfinished animatics.

Comcast Spotlights On-Demand Service With “Summer Of Kids” Initiative

1 July 2013 9:40 AM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

The No. 1 cable company will flood its on-demand menu with children’s shows in July — part of an effort to demonstrate to parents that they don’t have to buy a streaming service from Netflix or Amazon to find programming that will keep kids occupied in front of the TV or a mobile device. The “Summer Of Kids” plan follows Comcast’s “Watchathon” event in March that highlighted the virtues of on-demand. In the new campaign, Comcast says it will offer content from “every major kids network and brand,” including  more than 1,000 downloadable TV shows and films. In conjunction with the “Summer Of Kids” campaign, Comcast is introducing guides in collaboration with Common Sense Media to help families find age-appropriate fare. That should give parents “ultimate peace of mind for safer, smarter viewing across devices,” says Comcast Cable’s programming VP Maggie Suniewick. For the last two weeks of July »
