Tmi and Allie seek shelter in a remote desert compound after becoming lost and stranded. A strange Manson-like character, Preacher (Drago), reluctantly allows them inside with strict orders to be gone by morning and not wander "where you are not invited." At first, Preacher and his mail-order wife Oksana (Nedeljakova) deny the faint screams and cries that emanate from one of the crumbling outbuildings. When Allie sneaks outside to investigate, she discovers that she and Tim have stumbled onto a bizarre cult worshiping an entity that may -- or may not -- dwell inside a haunted little boy. Surprisingly not bad
14 May 2014 | by (Lincolnshire, UK) – See all my reviews

Certainly the best entry in this endless series since 'Children of the Corn III' and possibly the best of the lot, this one isn't exactly good but it does have positive qualities, something lacking in six out of the eight films thus far.

The drawbacks include (but are not limited to) characters acting like morons, dream sequences that pad out the running time, blunt exposition, a flatly staged opening scene, events but no plot, and confusing character motivations. All of this may or may not connect to the other films but I'm not sure continuity has ever been this series' strong suit.

Having said that, Kelen Colman and Tim Rock are likable and convincing (at least in the early stages) as a couple with a relationship that exists outside the movie. There are creepy moments and several scenes with an ominous atmosphere. Best of all there's Barbara Nedeljakova, sexy as anything, especially in an erotic scene where she tempts Rock.

It's quite engaging in an unambitious, seventh sequel kind of way.
