Plenty of directors act in their own films! Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood, Orson Welles!
You're not Orson Welles.
And you don't want to be Mel Gibson, unless you're talking Lethal Weapon... that movie was sweet.

This movie was a total surprise on how good it really is. For such a small budget and unknown actors, this movie made you want to see the movie these actors made. The graphics and the corny acting seemed believable. Attempting to make a movie in a city the size of New York City without permits would bring the results this film crew faced. I loved the idea of this movie and the director was able to tell a story about how hard it really is to break into the movie industry. The actors did an excellent job of portraying the inexperience of new actors making a movie, some for the first time, and what can go wrong does.
