Ethical behavior is basically the subject matter in this episode. When Harriet discovers that her client is guilty, she rats him out during the proceedings which causes an immediate mistrial. Should she be disbarred? This is the ethical dilemma facing a special board of inquiry for this.

The subplot is where Malcolm is asked to go undercover to get rid of drug dealers. Of course, he meets a very good old friend among the dealers. What is he to do? At one time, the friend had even saved his life.

Harriet proves what she is really made of in her speech to the board. Malcolm solves his ethical dilemma as well.
