Storyline

Elsie is preparing to leave her mother. Trunks are packed. A last good-bye, and she departs. In a Strange Town, The train arrives. When Elsie steps from the train a young man is trying to take hold of her grip, but is severely beaten by a gentleman whose protection Elsie implores. The New Charge. Elsie is received by the lady of the house and introduced to her new charge, a boy six years old. The Son of the House. While at dinner the son of the house enters, in whom Elsie recognizes her protector at the railroad station. Five Months Later. Ed, the son of the house, has been greatly attached to the young governess, and asks her to be his wife. True Love Never Runs Smooth. Elsie received a package and a letter reading as follows: "Dearest Elsie: I have to leave on business, and will be absent for three months. Take this diamond brooch as a small token of my true love.
