X-Men RPG. Is it all that good? Yes it is but it has a few problems
7 November 2012 | by (Valhalla) – See all my reviews

I have just completed this game. First of all it has been sort of my dream to have a Marvel RPG. Although the game play is good and so is the story (occassionally) but it has problems.

First of all the freedom of choice is limited. You can go through the entire game again, making the opposite decisions you made when you played it previously and still walk out of it with a similar result. Meaning it doesn't matter if you choose X-Men you're still going to have to fight Wolverine, It doesn't matter if you choose the Brotherhood, You're still going to be out there fighting Magneto and Juggernaut. If Marvel wants to do another game like this then I wouldn't mind it if it was in the style of Deus Ex where choices matter, unlike this where the only real choice is how it ends.

Second of all is that the dialogue can sometimes get really poor. Maybe it's just me walking from Assassin's Creed into this but I almost hated the dialogue. Some of the dialogue sounds like it was written for a pre-teen to deliver.

Aside from that the powers you choose are good (especially when you get closer to the end) which makes it for fun game play.

This game might be worth it for those who can look past little freedom of choice and bad dialogue. I think though that this is good for a first try but I want something better when Marvel announces it's next RPG.
