"Rubicon" knows how to create tension for its characters in small ways, with quiet scenes that almost effortlessly instill dread and paranoia.
There's plenty of that in this episode, as well as one big, wide-open scene that puts a major character in dire straits. Will they come out alive? You'll have to watch and find out.
"It's only bullets, whistling by," says Kale Ingram (Arliss Howard) in a pep talk to API analyst Miles (Dallas Roberts). "They can't kill you."
Trouble is, they totally can. And in this, the final episode of the entire show, nobody is safe - not their lives, nor their livelihoods and careers at the API.
I want this to be spoiler free so I really can'y say anymore. All I can say is: in 2018, they're still doing counter-terrorism and military shows: SEAL Team, The Looming Tower, Homeland, The Americans, etc. But not one of them is doing it like this show did back in 2010.
Don't let it fade away till no one remembers it! Watch it, rewatch it, and especially aspiring writers: Learn from it! It's the best conspiracy/spy/intel-gathering show EVER done on American TV. And it deserves its place in the annals of great TV history.
