Trivia

In the early 2000s, Jake Lloyd was one of the leading candidates to play Ender. Coincidentally, in 2000, when Lloyd appeared in a magazine ad campaign to promote library patronage, he was shown reading a copy of "Ender's Game". See more »

Goofs

During the fight between Ender and Bonzo in the shower, Bonzo falls and hits his head. In the close-up shots, the edge of the shower stall is at the middle of the back of Bonzo's head and there is several inches of space between Bonzo's shoulders and the edge. But in the long shots, Bonzo's entire head is lying on the shower edge and there is no space between his shoulders and the edge. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Ender Wiggin: Fifty years ago an alien force known as the Formics attacked Earth. Tens of millions died. It was only through the sacrifice of our greatest commander that we avoided total annihilation. We've been preparing for them to come back ever since. The International Fleet decided that the world's smartest children are the planet's best hope. Raised on war games, their decisions are intuitive, decisive, fearless. I am one of those recruits.

I enjoyed it
30 October 2013 | by (essex) – See all my reviews

I'll begin by saying that I haven't read the book and had absolutely no idea what to expect. I was therefore pleasantly surprised by what is an exciting science fiction adventure.

Harrison Ford is the reason I watched this, and he is first rate. It might be argued that Ford is playing to the gruff stereotype he has essayed in any number of recent films, but I like this performance.

The younger members of the cast were unfamiliar to me, but they acquit themselves well. I was drawn into the story and the emoitional journey within.

The visuals are stunning. Even the most cynical or jaded critic cannot deny the movie is beautiful to watch. Worth the cost of a movie ticket.
