Letters home is a tale of an asylum seeker who struggles to deal with life in the UK whilst waiting to hear whether he can stay full time and then be able to bring his family over from his troubled homeland. This is all told via a series of letters home to his wife, which he can't bear to send home as the truth about his experience wouldn't exactly be encouraging for her and her son. Eventually, however, the loneliness gets to much for him so he decides to send a letter home lying about how wonderful his life is in Leeds. He befriends his English tutor who it is revealed to be possibly more lost and more lonely than our lead. This is all set to the backdrop of Leeds, West Yorkshire just after the infamous court case involving two of Leeds United footballers and a local student of Asian decent.
