Episode cast overview, first billed only:

After a 200-year-old medicine jar found on an off-shore shipwreck shatters in a teenage girl's palm, she is admitted to Princeton Plainsboro for symptoms closely linked to smallpox. When the Center for Disease Control's Dr. Dave Broda institutes a lockdown on the hospital and suspends House's team's ability to diagnose, Masters grows suspicious of Broda's motives and becomes convinced that the patient is suffering from a different disease. The girl's father soon experiences similar symptoms, and House is forced to make a precarious decision that puts his own life in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Wilson and Sam comfort a 6-year-old chemotherapy patient who prompts them to examine their relationship. Written by Fox Publicity

Did You Know?

The language spoken on the ship at the beginning of the episode is actually Afrikaans and not Dutch as implied. Afrikaans is spoken in South Africa (Hence the South African actor as ship captain) and in neighboring Namibia. Afrikaans originates from Dutch and is thus fairly similar. Afrikaans is said to be the youngest language on earth. See more »

Dr. Gregory House: Thanks for calling back. Listen, I'm a screenwriter. And is it theoretically possible for smallpox to survive for more than 200 years underwater in a sealed glass jar?
CDC Personnel: Well, theoretically, yes, but...
Dr. Gregory House: Thank you.
[hangs up]
Dr. Gregory House: So who do we believe, the CDC or Dr. 90210?

Felt Rushed... I just wasn't wet yet...
15 November 2010 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

First off let me clarify. I am addicted and fully in love with this series. Now that being said I felt this episode suffered a slight misstep.

The content and plot of this episode seems to stumble as it tries to desperately pushes to much plot into its time limit. I won't reveal the plot points that are included but they felt rushed. The Dialogue between House and the team loses its cadence and the Diagnoses seems rushed. Also the drama that House's actions present seems hollow and not nearly as dramatic as should of been. This episode would of been incredible had it been a two part cliff hanger.
