(Cbr) This time last year, hardly anyone outside of devoted fans of Dan Harmon knew anything about "Rick and Morty," the animated series from the "Community" creator and "Fish Hooks" writer/actor Justin Roiland. But much to the delight of the duo, and Adult Swim, the show premiered in December to critical acclaim, and went on to become a certifiable hit. The series centers on Rick Sanchez (Roiland), an alcoholic, sociopathic scientist who, after being missing for nearly 20 years, shows up on his daughter’s doorstep looking to move in with her and her family. He soon converts the garage into a laboratory, and begins involving his 14-year-old grandson Morty (also Roiland) in his insanely dangerous adventures. Actor-singer-hoofer Kyle Massey has touched down in Gotham.

The Disney Channel staple (and Dancing With the Stars runner-up) has landed a guest stint on Fox’s much-hyped fall drama, TVLine has learned exclusively.

He will play Macky, a neglected/abused kid who lives on the streets of Gotham.

Disney Xd Orders Jon Heder Animated Series ‘Pickle & Peanut’

Disney Xd has ordered “Pickle & Peanut,” an animated buddy comedy featuring Jon Heder and Johnny Pemberton.

Series hails from “Fish Hooks” creator Noah Z. Jones and developed by Joel Trussell. Show from Disney Television Animation will use a mix of 2-D animation and live-action clips to the ll the story of an emotional pickle, voiced by Heder, and a freewheeling peanut (Pemberton).

“We see very few pitches that are as funny and original as ‘Pickle & Peanut,’ ” said Eric Coleman, Disney Television Animation’s senior VP of original series. “We instantly fell in love with these characters, and Noah and Joel have built a world with a visual style and sensibility unlike anything on TV.”

“Pickle & Peanut” is slated for a fall 2015 premiere.

Adult Swim” has given a second season to “Rick and Morty,” its animated series from “Community” creator Dan Harmon. The series, about a sociopathic scientist and his unintelligent grandson who gets dragged across the universe on dangerous adventures, counts series co-creator Justin Roiland (“Fish Hooks”) and “Scrubs” alum Sarah Chalke among its voice talent.
