Storyline

In decades past, basketball put tiny Eldorado, Illinois on the map, and the Eldorado High School Band provided the enthusiastic soundtrack to each and every game and tournament. But like many small communities across America, a dying local economy and tightened funding forced the school district to severely cut or completely eliminate the music programs. For years, Eldorado was oddly silent, until past graduates, ranging in age from 18 to 80, came together and formed The Eldorado Alumni Band. On their way to helping restore a music program in the schools and raising money to buy instruments for students, this unlikely group of farmers, teachers, attorneys, and stay at home moms rediscover their love of music and reconnect to the glory days of their youth. I grew up in Eldorado... a tiny little town nestled in the midst of the hills and farmland of Southern Illinois. For the past 20 years, I have worked in radio in Nashville, Tennessee, and I have been a part of countless interviews with country music stars who have all spoken at length about their passion for music. My former neighbors in Eldorado are admittedly not as eloquent. But in this movie -- Eagles... Return To Glory -- they reveal the simple beauty and the true power of music. Not the music made by the Chesneys and McGraws of the world. This is music created by people who haul propane and drive tractors and clean carpets for a living. For most of them, playing music was something they "used to do" when they were kids. But, instead of just bemoaning the fact that the high school no longer had a band to play at ballgames, they did something about it. They dug into the backs of their closets, found their dusty instruments, and formed an alumni band. They brought music back to the ballgames, and back into their lives. And then, they began passing it on to the young students in Eldorado who had never known a school music program. This movie will inspire you to relive your high school glory days. It will inspire you to pick up your old flute or tuba and pucker your lips again. It will inspire you to get involved and help your community instead of just complaining about the government not doing enough. I have listened to hundreds of professional songwriters, singers and musicians expound upon music. But I don't believe I've ever seen its power illustrated more clearly than in this movie.
