Oscar producers: Neil Patrick Harris received the Academy's only formal offer to host Responding to a Hollywood Reporter report that Harris was the 4th choice to host the Oscars, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron released a statement saying: “After every Oscar show there is always a discussion as to who will host the next one. Many names are discussed and sometimes even floated without there being any formal offers. At times, these casual discussions take on a life of their own, and some are eager to break a story without knowing the facts. Neil Patrick Harris received the Academy’s formal offer. He is the perfect choice for the Oscars and will be the consummate host.” Anderson Cooper ticks off a reporter by refusing to take a selfie with him at the Canadian shooting site “No, I will not take a photo with you on a day where someone was killed! »

Star Wars: Episode VII scene description and set photos featuring Stormtroopers

22 October 2014 4:38 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Thanks to fan site Making Star Wars, we’ve got a pair of new set photos from Star Wars: Episode VII, which – if you squint and look very, very closely – just about shows the white blur of an Imperial Stormtrooper. Take a look at the images, followed by a scene description below…

Some images are from the lot where they seem to be dumping a lot of trees, vines and rocks which I believe must be props, the other 4 are from the area around the blue screens, the castle/megaliths/ruins…and a Stormtrooper, well, just about.

Unfortunately they’re not quite as vivid as we’d have liked, but with a bit of zooming you should definitely be able to make out the Stormtrooper. There were 4 I think in this area, running through the explosions, I think I remember another 4 or so coming from the opposite direction, but that was not all… »

Showtime Mixes Internet Sensation Rachel Bloom With Seasoned Writer for ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’

21 October 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Showtime couldn’t be happier that you’ve probably never heard of Rachel Bloom, 26, the star of their new half-hour comedy pilot (with songs!), “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” about a smart lawyer turned self-deluded stalker. For the premium cabler, the freedom to cast a talented unknown signals its growing success.

“It’s a function of the evolution of our network and brand that we no longer have to put pre-established stars into shows to get people to take us seriously as a place for original programming.” says Showtime president David Nevins. “We have shows that get nominated for awards that critics take seriously: ‘Homeland,’ ‘Ray Donovan,’ ‘Shameless’ and ‘Masters of Sex,’ ” he ticks off quickly.

Clearly, premium cabler’s profile has added luster.

But not just anyone can follow in the footsteps of the household names that have traditionally anchored Showtime’s signature, edgy, female-centric comedies — awards-show magnets like Edie Falco, Laura Linney and Toni Collette. »

Kat Dennings: I'm So In Love with Kim Kardashian's Butt

21 October 2014 9:00 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Kim Kardashian's butt caused Kat Dennings' mouth to drop!

Kat Dennings is a big fan of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but even her mouth dropped when she saw Kim Kardashian's butt in person.

Kardashian -- who turns 34 today -- will appear on an episode of Dennings' CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls, and the actress admitted on Tuesday's The Elllen DeGeneres Show, "I was just so in love with her ass! I just spit talking about it, that's how passionate I feel!"

Photos: Kat, Kim and the Most Voluptuous Vixens in Hollywood

But does the bootylicious reality star know how Dennings feels about her assets? Not exactly. "We would say a nice thing or two," she recalled. "Then [Kim would] turn around and Beth [Behrs] and I would be like (mouths the words), 'Oh My God!'"

Looks like even @KimKardashian can't resist Max's cupcakes. http://t.co/kGgLrOlgb1 #2BrokeGirls pic.twitter.com/Ab »

Ellen DeGeneres and Lena Dunham Want to Be 'Ghostbusters'

20 October 2014 4:46 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Melissa McCarthy and Girls creator/star Lena Dunham both appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier today, where host Ellen DeGeneres suggested that they all be cast in the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters that Paul Feig is directing. After Ellen made the initial suggestion, Lena Dunham had this to say.

"I have to say, since I've heard that rumor I think every lady in town who fancies herself a jokester wants in."

After rumors of an all-female Ghostbusters started popping up last month, original Ghostbusters star Bill Murray suggested that his St. Vincent co-star Melissa McCarthy be cast, along with Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini and Emma Stone. It was announced earlier this month that Paul Feig is officially directing an all-female version of Ghostbusters, which lead to The X-Files star Gillian Anderson expressing her interest in the project last week.

Of course, no one has been officially cast yet, but »

Ellen DeGeneres is throwing her name in the ring for 'Ghostbusters 3.'

Ellen DeGeneres is taking it upon herself to cast the new Ghostbusters 3 -- and this trio isn't too far off from some of our casting picks.

Bridesmaids actress Melissa McCarthy and Girls star Lena Dunham joined Ellen on her Monday show and the daytime host took the opportunity to pitch the movie to the funny women. "The three of us, I think we should maybe do Ghostbusters together or something like that," Ellen told the women.

Turning to Melissa, Ellen said, "I think you’re in already." Despite some prying on both Ellen and Lena's part to get the actress to confess she's already been cast in the sequel, Melissa denied the claims several times, saying, "I’m not in. I’m not it!"

Lena, however, is all for being a Ghostbuster. "I have to »

Christopher Walken and Allison Williams Appear in First Poster for NBC’s Peter Pan

17 October 2014 11:22 AM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

NBC’s second foray into live musicals will be Peter Pan, after the resounding success of The Sound of Music Live a few months earlier. They surprised many by continuing the long-held tradition of Peter Pan himself often being played by a girl, and surprised even more when that girl was the stunning Allison Williams from Girls. Other than her, the main draw of the event will be Christopher Walken’s singing, hopefully dancing Captain Hook. We’ve seen shots of each to date, but now the duo are appearing together in the above first official poster for the Peter Pan musical. In it, despite the gender change, Williams is more recognizable than Walken, who between his copious fake facial hair and eyeliner, looks more like Ian McShane playing Captain Hook than anything (which would be incredible). Wendy and the other cast members are nowhere to be found. NBC is »

Everything about the Peter Pan Live! poster promises pure campy goodness — from the glitter encircling everyone's least favorite Girls star Allison Williams to Christopher Walken's beauty mark.
