Dating in real life is no easy chore. If you take it online, you risk a steady stream of creepers and Catfishers who lie about their height and male pattern baldness. In real life, you’re dealing with douches at the bar who murmur things like “What’s your Facebook, sexy?’ with rank beer breath. Thus, it’s incredibly tempting to pretend that the hotties smoldering through our favorite TV shows are our boyfriends. They have perfect abs, luscious hair, flawless line delivery and never sweat — why not?

And there are so many of them to choose from. A fantasy boyfriend for every kind of girl! If you have a supernatural fetish, clearly you’d welcome a little bite from Vampire Diaries Ian Somerholder. Love vulgar, sexually bonkers weirdos with a heart of gold? Cut to Adam Driver on Girls

This weekend, take a break from real-life »

Why 'Silicon Valley' Could Be HBO's First Comedy With Mass Appeal In Years

18 April 2014 7:44 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

For all of the cheering for the quality and creative ambition of HBO's programming -- rah-rahs that are all truly deserved -- it's too often glossed over that that the network hasn't had a lot of comedy success recently.  Before you lose yourself in a Ari Gold-style meltdown over that statement, allow some clarification.  Yes, there has been an abundance of critical and awards success when it comes to HBO's current slate of comedies, a testament to the network's admiral commitment to quality and adventurous content above all other programming factors. But while Julia Louis-Dreyfus is dutifully and rightfully winning acting awards for motherfucking epic comedic work on "Veep" (cursing just feels right when talking about that show) and Lena Dunham's "Girls" routinely lights the zeitgeist on fire as if the cast moonlight as cultural flamethrowers, the fact of the matter is that HBO hasn't had a mass-appeal hit in years. »

Obvious Child Gets Its First Trailer

18 April 2014 5:17 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Having travelled the festival circuit, steadily gathering critical and popular acclaim along the way, we now get see what all that positive word-of-mouth is about, as Obvious Child gets its first trailer.

The feature-length directorial debut of Gillian Robespierre – from a story and script she wrote with Karen Maine, Elisabeth Holm and Anna BeanObvious Child is based on their 2009 short film of the same name, and stars Saturday Night Live alum Jenny Slate as Donna – an aspiring comedian who finds herself in the throes of an emotional and financial crisis, compounded by an unplanned pregnancy. What do all the people listed here have in common? That’s right – they’re all women.

Though the trailer predictably packages this film as a romantic comedy – following scenes of angst with the inevitable and usual montage of a distressed woman being cheered by best friends, finding new love and randomly dancing – it then becomes something else. »

'Girls' season 4: Look who's back together -- Photos

17 April 2014 10:15 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Maybe Hannah and Adam aren’t consciously uncoupling after all.

The third season of HBO’s Girls ended with another breakup for Lena Dunham’s Hannah and Adam Driver’s Adam. But according to these new images from the set of the dramedy’s next season, the pair seem as though they’re on course for a reconciliation – provided this isn’t a dream sequence or something.

Also worth noting: These pictures come from scenes shot on location in New York City, even though Hannah seemed bound for the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in the show’s last finale. (Girls is »

See New Photos of Hannah and Adam Together on the Next Season of Girls

17 April 2014 8:01 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Girls' fourth season has started filming, and even though Hannah is heading to the Iowa Writers' Workshop eventually, these on-set photos suggest she and Adam will be spending at least some time together in New York. Ah, young love. When we last saw Adam and Hannah, they had had a pretty serious fight: He was mad she'd told him about her graduate school plans just moments before his Broadway acting debut, and she was mad that he didn't understand why she'd want to share important news with him. Perhaps they work things out? Or maybe this lovey-dovey stuff is just the eerie calm before the really brutal breakup storm? Either way! »

Meet the new Mormons: Ben Platt and Nic Rouleau are on a mission in Broadway’s biggest musical

17 April 2014 7:00 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Nic Rouleau couldn’t get a ticket to The Book of Mormon.

Like the stories you’ve no doubt heard about the wildly popular, box office-busting Broadway show, tickets are one of New York’s hottest commodities, and they have been since the record-breaking musical opened just three years ago. So Rouleau turned to the show’s daily lottery system — about 2 dozen tickets offered raffle-style to eager patrons, 98 percent of whom will leave disappointed — and lucked his way into the Eugene O’Neill Theatre that way.

“I won the lottery and saw it from house right up in the box, »

Kicking off what we can expect to be a swarm of set photos, rumour and speculation, the first alleged images from the Abu Dhabi set of Star Wars: Episode VII have arrived online via The National, showing a group of people rolling a giant disc out of a white tent. It’s been said that the prop could be the foot of an At-at, but of course it could be something else entirely, if it’s even from the movie…

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release on December 18th 2015, with J.J. Abrams (Star Trek Into Darkness) directing and the likes of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) rumoured to be back alongside Adam Driver (Girls) as the new villain.

Lena Dunham paid a visit to gal pal Taylor Swift yesterday, shortly after she began shooting the fourth season of her hit HBO show, Girls. The actress stopped by T.Swift's New York City apartment and was spotted carrying several bags—and a script—into the singer's pad. Could that mean that the two are planning on working together in the near future?! Well, it's still too early to tell, but it's no secret that the famous ladies are huge fans of one another. In fact, last year Dunham took to Twitter to confess her affections for the "I Knew You Were Trouble" songstress after attending one of her concerts. "The @taylorswift13 show tonight=most »

Watch This Trailer If You're Worried Romantic Comedies Aren't Good Anymore

15 April 2014 4:01 PM, PDT | BuzzSugar | See recent BuzzSugar news »

If you like the humor of Girls and have a soft spot for Jean-Ralphio's sister on Parks and Recreation, then let me introduce you to the trailer for Obvious Child. It stars Jenny Slate, who you may recognize not just from Parks, but possibly Saturday Night Live (or as the very adorable voice in the viral video "Marcel the Shell With the Shoes On") - she plays Donna, a recently dumped comedian who rebounds with a sweet guy (Jake Lacy) and ends up with a little more than she bargained for. Slate and Lacy's chemistry is so cute, but the rest of this romantic comedy isn't as conventional as it sounds; the humor is biting, and the situation gets very real and loses its sugar coating. I can't wait to see Slate in a starring role like this and hope this is her big breakout moment. Obvious Child comes out »

Yahoo’s First TV-Length Original Series May Come From ‘Girls’ Writer

15 April 2014 10:04 AM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

A week ago, the Wall Street Journal reported Yahoo's plan to greenlight big-budget, TV-length original series on par with those distributed by Netflix and Amazon. Variety is now reporting on one of the series on Yahoo's "shortlist": It's called 34 and Pregnant, and helmed by Girls writer Lesley Arfin. 34 and Pregnant is a "mom-com" centered around an expecting protagonist. Arfin is herself 35, though it's unclear how biographical--if at all--her series would be. Before it came under Yahoo's consideration, the series was in the works as a digital-only project on HBO Go. Arfin may not be a household name, but she has worked on several critically-acclaimed comedies. In addition to a pair of writing credits on Girls, she has also penned an episode of Golden Globe winner Brooklyn Nine-Nine and has worked as a story editor on Awkward, MTV's critically-acclaimed teen dramedy. Her resume suggests that 34 and Pregnant could be the »

Project of the Day: 'The Big Spoon'

15 April 2014 8:22 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Here's your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite. In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments. "The Big Spoon" Tweetable Logline: An Unromantic Comedy about the Perils of Staying Together when You Should Really be Apart. Elevator Pitch: Have you ever been in a relationship where you're comfortable, and nothing's Wrong, per se, but you wake up one day and think, "what the fuck am I doing with this person who I know I don't want to be with forever?" but then drag ass getting out of it because, maybe it's better than being alone after all? The Big Spoon is a modern (un)romantic comedy about that; think classic Woody Allen sensibilities mixed with Broad City-esque shenanigans and you've got our movie. »

Taylor Swift Spent Her Day Hanging Out With Your Favorite People

15 April 2014 5:41 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

We already know that Taylor Swift is the ultimate celebrity Bff, but her recent hangout session with Lena Dunham has us thinking that we might be seeing her on the small screen hanging out with a very famous group of girlfriends. Lena was spotted visiting Taylor's NYC apartment on Monday while carrying several bags and what appeared to be a script, and she later tweeted that she was preparing to start shooting on the fourth season of her hit HBO show, Girls. Taylor and Lena have been friends for years, but maybe now that Taylor has been spending a lot of time in the Big Apple, she might have time to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming season. After all, she did just make a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live to support her other friend Ed Sheeran. Later, after Lena left, Taylor met up with model-turned-cookie baker Karlie »

8 things you need to know about singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson

11 April 2014 4:02 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson first came to prominence seven years ago after “Grey’s Anatomy” used her song “Keep Breathing,” followed by Old Navy appropriating “The Way I Am” to sell sweaters during 2007’s holiday season. But fans of those songs who delved deeper found that Michaelson had much more to offer than songs that licensed for TV placements. Her confessional, vulnerable lyrics, delivered by her crystalline vocals quickly caught on with followers of such artists as Sara Bareilles, Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, and Rachael Yamagata. Next Tuesday (April 15), Michaelson will release “Lights Out,” led by the soaring, fun first single, “Girls Chase Boys.” The song caught fire not only for its catchiness, but also for its gender-bending video, which pays homage to Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible” iconic clip. Her last album, 2012's "Human Again," debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. Michaelson appeared at the Grammy Museum earlier this »

British actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers wanted for Star Wars: Episode VII

The Hollywood Reporter isn’t usually one for rumours, but when it comes to Star Wars: Episode VII, rumours are pretty much all we’ve had since Disney purchased Lucasfilm back in October 2012 and announced a new Star Wars trilogy was in the works.

Well, according to the site, unknown British actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers “is in line to nab an undisclosed and possibly major role in the high-profile Disney/Lucasfilm production, which is in the middle of an extended casting search in London in advance of a May production start date.”

While no role is mentioned, the report does go on to highlight previous talk that Lucasfilm is seeking “a young black or mixed-race woman who may be a descendent of Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi.”
