Some actors are fantastic, but the show sucks
10 April 2014 | by See all my reviews

First of all, let me start by saying I don't want Adam Driver, Jemima Kirke and Ebon Moss- Bachrach to be judged inside this review, since they are living-walking-Oscars OK? Good.

Now that we have that clear, their characters may be caught on crossfire when I say the show is terrible, but keep in mind that if there was ANY reason to keep the faith the show would eventually get better (which unfortunately didn't happen), it was because of them.

Girls has one big ass shitty script. It's weak, nothing interesting happens, everything is pure cliché, and many characters are annoying as hell. I know every show has annoying characters, but Girls it's PRO on that. Hanna is WAY too immature for 25 years old, and she never changes, she never grows up, she's a spoiled whiny baby and dresses terribly. Doesn't matter if you're overweight or not, you CAN'T shove your crotch to the camera every 5 frames. You could be Megan Fox and that would still be annoying for a major straight-female audience. Also, Hanna doesn't get more mature along the seasons. EVER. I watched until season 3 and she never evolves. Same for Shoshanna and Caroline.

You get Adam and his fantastic sexy sassy acting, Jemima as Jessa and her stunning blasé attitude, Ebon as Desi and his rock n roll style along with Allison and her beautiful voice. You do get good acting mixed with a LOT of bullshit, just keep in mind it's a bad written show, with deeply annoying characters like Hanna 90% of the time on screen. People may say it's oh-so-different because Hanna is an overweight main character, but no, just no. She actually undresses every 3 minutes like she wants to force the audience to love her body by overexposing it, and it's not cool, it's fcking annoying to say the least. If that was a TV show for guys, that may even justify, but the main audience is STRAIGHT FEMALES, so doesn't make sense at all.
