Since Cillian Murphy just became the first Irish-born actor to win the Best Actor Oscar, I thought it would be appropriate to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a list of the most notable Irish actors who have been honored by the Academy with either Oscar gold or a nomination.
1. Cillian Murphy
Murphy has played non-Irish roles so often and so well that some people may not realize or remember that he is Irish. His best Irish films include Breakfast on Pluto and The Wind that Shakes the Barley. And as noted above, he is the first Irish-born actor to take home an Academy Award in the Best Actor category.

Chvrches vocalist Lauren Mayberry is back with another solo single, “Change Shapes.”
Led by a groovy, pulsating bassline, Mayberry rails against the expectations put on her as a woman, and how her efforts as a feminist are constantly undermined by those who think she’s doing both too much and not enough. “I’m preachin’ to the choir/ I’m a body for hire,” she sings, before launching into the strutting chorus: “I change shapes to get what I want from you/ It’s your game now you’re mad that I learned the rules.”
According to Mayberry, the song revolves around the idea of performance — how she’s a performer within the context of being in Chvrches, but also performing the idea of what her audience, her peers, and the music industry at large want her to be. “How do I keep people happy enough that they’ll let...

Carey Mulligan has more than lived up to her promise. The English actor was an obvious, stand-out talent early in her career, whether she was playing one of the Bennett sisters in Joe Wright’s “Pride & Prejudice” adaptation or in an acclaimed one-episode appearance in BBC’s “Doctor Who.” When 2009 saw her receive a Best Actress nomination for her role in the acclaimed drama “An Education,” it seemed to mark the emergence of a great new young actor.
And since that breakthrough, Mulligan has only continued to go from strength to strength. An actor’s actor with the ability to fully embody the complicated women she’s often cast as, Mulligan consistently picks interesting, juicy parts, in films as varied as “Never Let Me Go,” “Drive,” “Shame,” “Far from the Madding Crowd,” and “Mudbound.” As she’s gotten a little older and aged out of the young ingenue parts...

Timothée Chalamet’s Dune: Part Two is set to gross $170 million on its global debut on March 1. The film is made on a budget of $190 million, an increase from its previous film’s $165 million budget. Fans are already hailing the movie for its predicted massive box office opening despite having a lower budget than recent big Warner Bros. movies like The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Timothée Chalamet in a still from Dune: Part Two
Legendary Pictures largely financed Dune 2, however, Warner Bros. also had a double-digit investment in the film. The studio hopes the film will save them from their current low $8.60 share price, but their box office prediction is lower than that of other tracking services.

The tea leaves have aligned, and industry insider Daniel Richtman sees another casting for Lionsgate‘s Highlander reboot emerging from the pattern. According to Richtman, Michael Fassbender plays the villain in the Chad Stahelski-directed reimagining of the classic action film. According to Richtman, Fassbender is in talks to star alongside Henry Cavill as a “Mongol Warrior.”
Please remember that whispers about Michael Fassbender’s involvement with Highlander are rumors. We must wait for Lionsgate to make it official.
The new rumor already has Highlander fans buzzing about Fassbender playing a version of the original Highlander villain, the Kurgan. Portrayed by Clancy Brown in the 1986 fantasy action-adventure film, the Kurgan is an immortal warrior and thorn in the side of Connor MacLeod, the Highlander (Christopher Lambert).
Lionsgate is looking to Stahelski to guide the short- and long-term creative direction, franchise strategy, and strategic growth of the Highlander and John Wick properties to ensure that quality,...

In Hollywood, graphic violence tends to be more acceptable than sex or nudity in films. America's MPAA slaps erotic films like Shame and Showgirls (both with relatively little violence) with the dreaded X or (more recently) Nc-17 rating, while the entire Saw franchise receives a more palatable R despite its gratuitous gore. But some horror films mix sex and nudity with violence, creating an entirely different kind of boundary-pushing movie-going experience.

Throughout his film career, Irish actor Michael Fassbender has been unafraid to take risks, tackling a wide variety of unusual roles, from an almost-human robot and a Ira freedom fighter to a legendary psychiatrist and a musician wearing a papier-mâche head. It’s a filmography that would daunt some actors and inspire still others, and for Fassbender, it’s a film career that has only really just begun.
Along the way, Fassbender has been able to be a part of an enviable mix of breakthrough independent films, searing personal dramas, and even a few franchise moneymakers. Most importantly, he has collaborated with such premier filmmakers as Ridley Scott, Danny Boyle and Quentin Tarantino, with perhaps the most significant relationship in his career being with with filmmaker Steve McQueen, whose three-film collaboration with Fassbender have raised the bar for each man to new artistic heights.

Carey Mulligan got all but inked for her “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” audition.
The Oscar-nominated actress recalled trying out for the 2011 David Fincher thriller during Variety’s Actors on Actors alongside “Shame” co-star Michael Fassbender. Mulligan was so determined to land the role that she almost changed her entire appearance to what Fassbender called a “punk sort of look.”
“I think I even, like, almost dyed my hair black or something,” Mulligan said. “I definitely wore a nose ring. And I got my friend who’s a makeup artist…” The “Maestro” star added, “I went all in. I did a Bradley [Cooper], I went all in.” She said she thinks she even “chain-smoked” before the audition.”
“It was very nice, but I obviously didn’t get the job,” said Mulligan, who is, this year, up for awards for her similarly transformative performance in Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro.”

Noise auteurs The Body and electronic artist Dis Fig, aka Felicia Chen, have announced the collaborative album Orchards of a Futile Heaven, arriving February 23rd via Thrill Jockey. The lead single “Holy Lance” can be streamed now.
The mysterious track offers a glimpse into the full breadth of the collab, as Chen’s voice cuts through a haze of droning noise. The tension builds to a climactic drop of feedback squalls and pulverizing guitar, with the vocals of Chen rising to match the sonic swell. Overall, the track recalls the post-metal adjacent music of Chelsea Wolfe, Myrkur, and Big|Brave, among others.
The Body and Dis Fig found common ground in their desire to make heavy music that defies “the tropes of metal and electronic music.” As heard on “Holy Lance,” they instead merged the two genres to create something altogether their own.

In her graceful portrayal of Felicia Montealegre Bernstein in “Maestro” — opposite director Bradley Cooper — Carey Mulligan turns what might have been Cooper’s solo performance into a duet. Born in Costa Rica and raised in Chile, Felicia is an up-and-coming actor in New York City when she goes to a party and meets Lenny, an ambitious conductor and composer. After they marry in 1951, she has three children with her lightning bolt of a husband, who is sexually oriented more toward men.
But she’s not pathetic; Felicia is Lenny’s partner in every sense of the word. In a way, Felicia is the consummate Mulligan performance: Her simmering interiority meshes with Cooper’s magnetism, which is Mulligan’s own form of conducting.
Mulligan first began talking to Cooper about “Maestro” in the summer of 2018, after he came to see her in the Off Broadway play “Girls & Boys.” Cooper had completed “A Star Is Born,...

Michael Fassbender was born on 2nd April 1977 to a German father, Josef, and an Irish mother, Adele. When he was two, his family relocated to Killarney, a town in south-west Ireland. His parents managed a restaurant, with his father donning the hat of a chef.

Growing up in a multicultural household, Fassbender was exposed to both German and Irish culture. Despite this, he was primarily raised in Ireland and considers himself Irish. He has an older sister, Catherine, who is a noted neuropsychologist.
Fassbender’s interest in acting was stirred at a young age. At 19, he left home to study at the Drama Centre London. However, he dropped out in 1999 to perform in the play ‘Three Sisters’ with the Oxford Stage Company.

Michael Fassbender is without a doubt one of the best actors working today, but that doesn’t mean that viewing any of his films is a particularly uplifting experience. Fassbender seems to almost exclusively pick projects with a foreboding sense of doom and gloom. Ever since he kicked off his career with Steve McQueen’s 2008 masterpiece Hunger, Fassbender has been drawn to dark, disturbing, and tortured characters in projects including Shame, 12 Years a Slave, Inglorious Basterds, Macbeth, and David Fincher's The Killer, to name a few. While it's great to see Fassbender thrive in his niche, it’s also interesting to see whenever an actor can challenge the preconceived expectations that an audience may have for them. Even though he’s most often associated with perpetual misery, Fassbender got the chance to show off his romantic side in the underrated 2016 period piece The Light Between Oceans.

John Lennon was a fan of one of the forgotten disco songs of the 1970s. He had a more tolerant attitude toward disco than some other rock stars. He was also a fan of another track from the same era because it reminded him of Elvis Presley’s early work.
John Lennon liked a disco song but forgot the name of the group behind it
During a 1975 Rolling Stone interview, John was asked to name the musicians listened to at the time. “I like ‘Shame, Shame, Shame,'” he said. “Shirley and the gang. Some of this disco stuff. Great.” “Shame, Shame, Shame” was actually by a group by Shirley & Company. Considering a lot of 1970s rockers really hated disco music, John’s comments showed that he was more open to new styles than many of his contemporaries.

The Screenwriters Guild of Israel called out the Writers Guild of America over their reluctance to release a consensus statement condemning the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel.
The WGA board has faced heavy criticism over the union failing to join SAG-AFTRA and the Directors Guild of America in condemning the attacks.

Chvrches singer Lauren Mayberry has shared her second solo single, “Shame.” Listen to the track below.
You never know what you’re going to get when the frontperson of a band branches out into a solo career, but “Shame” immediately feels like a Mayberry song, beginning with disjointed, industrial-sounding synths and the vocalist’s iconic chirp. Those electronic verses slow down in the lullaby chorus, however, as Mayberry sings, “I feel schizophrenic/ How poetic/ Romanticize all the pain/ How pathetic, drinking gasoline and calling me the flame.”
The singer-songwriter explained the meaning of the single in a statement. “I had the idea for a while of a song that had the tagline of ‘what a shame,’ but in a sarcastic way,” Mayberry said. “And the word ‘shame’ having a double meaning — the shame you feel and internalize, but what a shame you feel like that and can’t change it.

Carey Mulligan has had an impressive and varied acting career, as shown throughout her awards resume in films like “Shame,” “Drive,” “Mudbound” and “She Said.” But her two leading Oscar nominations came for “An Education” (2009), her first major starring role, and “Promising Young Woman” (2020), in one of the most uncertain and thrilling Best Actress races in a while. Let’s take a look back at those years as she returns with her next project “Maestro” as Felicia Montealegre, the wife of composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein, set to release November 22 before debuting on Netflix December 20.
After a variety of roles in film, television and theater, Mulligan came to light at the Academy Awards with her first leading feature, the coming-of-age drama “An Education,” directed by Lone Scherfig and adapted by Nick Hornby from the Lynn Barber memoir, about a promising young schoolgirl who falls in love with a much older man...

Michael Fassbender is thrilled to be working on David Fincher's crime drama "The Killer," describing it as the kind of film he was eager to do. The best X-rated movies, now known as Nc-17 rated movies, push boundaries and showcase masterpieces that have been branded with a scandalous reputation. These movies earn their rating due to graphic violence, sex, or language, and include notable films like Blue Valentine and Bad Lieutenant. Kix played their final concert ever on Sunday night (September 17th) at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland — just down the road from the band’s home city of Baltimore.
The hard rock vets were joined by former guitarists Ronnie Younkins and Brad Divens for what proved to be a celebratory, career-spanning set.
All of Kix’s biggest hits from their MTV glam-metal glory days were included in the set, most notably cuts from 1985’s Midnite Dynamite (“Midnite Dynamite”; “Scarlet Fever”; “Cold Shower”) and 1988’s Blow My Fuse.
Early in the set, Younkins joined the band onstage for the first two songs (“Atomic Bombs” and “The Kid”) before Divens took part in renditions of early Kix material (“For Shame” and “Mighty Mouth”) hailing from his stint in the band (1982-1983). Younkins and Divens then formed a triple-guitar attack with longtime Kix axeman Brian Forsythe for the four-song finale.

Michael Fassbender has reaped two Oscar bids to date and could well find that third time is the charm this year. He delivers two vastly different performances in Taika Waititi‘s comedy “Next Goal Wins” and David Fincher‘s thriller “The Killer.”
The first film, which debuted at TIFF on September 10 to a warm reception, tells the true story of soccer coach Thomas Rongen, who took charge of the American Samoa squad who coming off an infamous World Cup loss to Australia with a score of 31-0. Fassbender portrays Rongen and the movie marks a return by Waititi to his roots in comedy. Fassbender could well reap a bid at the Golden Globes, where’s he contended three times on the drama side for his leading roles in “Shame” (2012) and “Steve Jobs” (2016) and his featured part in “12 Years a Slave” (2014).
The Irish actor also headlines David Fincher‘s “The Killer.

A deleted scene from Thor: Love and Thunder showcases the charismatic Grandmaster, adding humor and drama to the film's narrative. Through immersive storyboards, fans get a glimpse of the "Moon of Shame" where Thor, Jane Foster, and Valkyrie attempt to restore Korg's disembodied head. Speculation about the Grandmaster's return in future MCU installations has been sparked, fueled by cryptic remarks from director Taika Waititi and the appearance of a Sakaaran spacecraft in She-Hulk.

Michael Fassbender's career has slowed down in recent years due to a string of unsuccessful movies, including the poorly received X-Men films and other critically panned projects. However, Fassbender has the potential for a Hollywood comeback with two big movies set to release in November. The Killer, a psychological thriller directed by David Fincher, and Next Goal Wins, directed by Taika Waititi, could both be successful if released at the same time. Fassbender's absence from the movie industry in the past four years was not due to his flops but rather his choice to prioritize his passion for motor racing. He has participated in various racing competitions and even raced at Le Mans in 2022.
Michael Fassbender hasn't had a successful movie in years, but in Winter 2023, he could have two in a row. The German-Irish actor's breakthrough project was all the way back in 2001 when he starred in...

On July 19, the MPA ratings board handed an Nc-17 rating to “Passages,” Ira Sachs’s acclaimed drama about a very unusual love triangle. The film was set to be released just two weeks later; Sachs and his distributor, Mubi, were understandably upset. The scene that triggered the Nc-17 rating, as is often the case in situations like this one, was an extended sex scene (the MPA does not like things that are long). As almost always happens, the filmmaker and the distributor immediately committed themselves to releasing the movie unrated. “There’s no untangling the film from what it is,” Sachs told the Los Angeles Times. “It is a film that is very open about the place of sexual experience in our lives. And to shift that now would be to create a very different movie.”

When the companies behind Ira Sachs’ new drama about the shifting currents of intimacy in a troubled love triangle submitted Passages to the Motion Picture Association ratings board, they probably anticipated an R.
But the MPA came back with an Nc-17 rating, forcing the distributor to release the film (which premiered at Sundance earlier this year) unrated rather than risk commercial marginalization or impose cuts that would diminish its intensity. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sachs painted the MPA as an outmoded relic of the 1950s, detecting a strong whiff of dangerous cultural censorship and possible homophobia behind the seldom issued Nc-17.
Let’s be clear: Passages — which Mubi opened Aug. 4 in Los Angeles and New York before expanding to other cities in the weeks to come — is a movie with a generous amount of sex, both gay and straight. But it’s neither particularly explicit nor remotely gratuitous,...

“Oppenheimer” has burst into the Oscar race.
With the earnest and urgent cultural fabric of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and the philosophical measure of “The Tree of Life,” writer, director and producer Christopher Nolan’s chronicle of the creation of the most destructive weapon ever used stands as the most ambitious and vital piece of filmmaking of his career. Adapted from the book “American Prometheus” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, “Oppenheimer” tells the complicated and morally fraught story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer who led the effort to develop the atomic bomb.
Nolan and his stellar ensemble of actors have amassed 27 Oscar nominations collectively throughout their careers. One of those who surprisingly hasn’t nabbed one is Irish actor Cillian Murphy, who plays the titular scientist. With dry wit and womanizing charm that effectively makes him the scientific version of Michael Fassbender in “Shame,” Murphy is an...

The cover of Time magazine once proclaimed Liv Ullmann “Hollywood’s new Nordic star,” a designation that never sat well with the Norwegian actress. She was a committed performer, starring in some of Ingmar Bergman’s greatest films of the Sixties and Seventies. She was an accomplished director, with a résumé that includes the Bergman-scripted 2000 gem Faithless. She became a vocal humanitarian, traveling to hardscrabble parts of the world as a Unicef ambassador. But a star? “I never became a star,” Ullmann tells Rolling Stone in a recent interview to...

The song’s music video, directed by Hagar, features live footage from classic Brad performances with pop-culture imagery from movies, TV shows, and horror films.

The set of Fox’s Sleepy Hollow had “grueling” working conditions, confusion and “creative floundering” among its leadership, and disparate treatment between its white male and Black female lead, according to Burn It Down.
The Hollywood exposé from Maureen Ryan, published by HarperCollins and which hit shelves on Tuesday, alleges that Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison — who played detective Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane, respectively — “did not want to have a whole lot to do with each other,” according to one source who worked on the show, allegedly resulting in Mison’s character’s famous “courtly” bow, because the co-stars did not want to hug each other.
That also allegedly translated to their onscreen narratives, according to showrunner Clifton Campbell, who told Ryan that Mison and Beharie “believed that the relationship between the characters should not evolve into a romantic relationship,” despite fan calls for one. (Neither Beharie nor Mison commented for the book.

Any questions regarding whether Steve McQueen’s WWII drama, “Blitz,” will compete at this year’s Academy Awards can be put to rest. Following the Cannes premiere of “Occupied City,” McQueen’s four-and-a-half-hour documentary about Amsterdam under Nazi rule, festival head Thierry Frémaux, per World of Reel, said the movie will likely play the Croisette in 2024.
Starring Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson and Stephen Graham, “Blitz,” which just began post-production, is steeped in the same historical milieu as “Occupied City” and takes place on the ground with Londoners during Germany’s aerial-bombing campaign against Great Britain. While it would’ve been exciting to see the two projects released alongside each other – a quasi-“Flags of Our Fathers”/“Letters From Iwo Jima” pairing, if you will – a 2024 release makes logistical sense for Apple, which no doubt has its hands full this year with Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” (premiering...

Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins tells the story of an underdog sports team in American Samoa, using an all-star cast of recognizable faces as well as new talent to bring the film’s roster of characters to life. The project is based on a documentary of the same name, which followed the American Samoan soccer team as their new coach, Thomas Rongen, attempted to improve their legacy as they were named the worst soccer team in the world. Waititi's movie tells the same story, focusing on the conflict and friendship between their coach and his players.
While there are plenty of recognizable faces in Next Goal Wins' cast, particularly in the supporting roles, the majority of the characters are played by breakout stars and up-and-coming talent. This is something that Waititi has done throughout his career, ensuring to maintain the integrity and heart of this Samoan story by casting actors from that region.

After the announcement trailer back in March, you’re probably wanting more from Fairyship Games and Revenant Games’ upcoming survival horror title Shame Legacy. Lucky for you, the newest trailer builds upon the previous trailer, introducing players to a valuable tool (and defensive weapon) in the form of the cane, as well as showing off more of the game’s environments and personalities.
This newest trailer for Shame Legacy introduces the cane – a valuable piece of equipment used for defensive purposes and puzzle-solving, allowing the main character to get closer to figuring out his connection to the bloody events in the village.
Speaking of which, the game sees you waking up in a 19th century equivalent of an anger management convention, aka a witch hunt is taking place in your village. You quickly realize that you’re the witch they’re after. The legacy of your family seems to have caught up to you,...

So, we’ve had the perennial discussion about which actor could or should be the next James Bond but what about the man behind the camera? Strangely, the conversation around which director should helm a Bond movie doesn’t seem to take off quite as much — but it certainly deserves to. With that in mind, here are 10 directors we’d love to see take charge of the next James Bond movie.
Christopher Nolan
The fans’ number one choice. Nolan’s movies are always events — from “The Dark Knight” all the way up to “Tenet” and the upcoming “Oppenheimer,” Nolan is one of the best technical directors around and he is an expert of melding exquisite action set-pieces into the most intriguing narrative stories. Several of his movies already evoke a sense of Bond, including his Batman trilogy, “Inception,” and “Tenet.” Nolan and Bond would be a marriage made in heaven.

Brad, the Seattle rock band featuring Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, have announced their first new album in 11 years. The LP, titled In the Moment That You’re Born, arrives on July 28th and includes the just-released title track as its first single.
In the Moment That You’re Born is Brad’s sixth album, following 2012’s United We Stand. The title track marks the band’s first new music since the 2017 stand-alone singles “Hey Now What’s the Problem” and “Pieces of Sky in My Hand.”
The single and other album tracks feature the vocals of late Brad singer Shawn Smith, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 53. Smith had laid down the vocals during recording sessions prior to his passing.

Throughout his film career, Irish actor Michael Fassbender has been unafraid to take risks, tackling a wide variety of unusual roles, from an almost-human robot and a Ira freedom fighter to a legendary psychiatrist and a musician wearing a papier-mâche head. Josh Brolin blames director Jimmy Hayward and studio interference for the failure of 'Jonah Hex'.The 52-year-old actor starred in the lead role of the 2010 comic book movie, which was a critical and commercial flop, and he thinks he "still owes" his co-stars an apology because of what the film turned out to be, which he blames on the filmmaker going "out partying" instead of devoting all his time to the project. He told Variety: "It was not successful creatively or monetarily. I mean, everybody knows how I feel about 'Jonah Hex'."But the biggest thing with 'Jonah Hex' is rushing into hiring somebody. I remember Jeff Robinov, who I’m still close with, who was running Warner Brothers at the time and he was like, look, you’ve got to get a director in the next two weeks, otherwise we’ve got to can this thing.

“I’ve been lacking motivation, I need an innervention,” gasps slowthai in the opening bars of his third album, Ugly. It is, perhaps, an acknowledgement of his disappointing second album, Tyron (2021). Released in the wake of his bad behaviour at the 2020 NME awards (where he made sexually inappropriate comments to host Katherine Ryan), that record had handed off all his most personal lyrics to guest artists. But Ugly finds the Northampton-born rapper back on intense, energetic form, taking a series of rapid breaths before plunging back into the chaotic energy of his soul. An “innervention”, he told Rolling Stone, is a self-reckoning. “You look inward,” he explained, “and you go, ‘Check yourself, man.’ Then you’re like, ‘Ok, I went into autopilot, and I had to pull myself back into my body in some way but I’m awake now.”

There’s a reason they’re called Shame. “You’re complaining a lot about the things that you’ve got,” proclaims frontman Charlie Steen on the first words of their accomplished third album. Anyone else feel seen? Food for Worms, described by the South London five-piece as an “ode to friendship”, abandons introspection. Sick of songs about romance and self-obsession, Shame take a critical but loving look at those around them – and in the process, demand their listeners do the same.
We’re first fed “Fingers of Steel”. It’s a bold opener, charged with a melancholic energy. If the track sounds familiar, that’s partly down to its nostalgic early-Noughties wonky guitar, and partly down to its near-constant airplay on 6 Music. As the song approaches a near-perfect end, it’s suddenly interrupted by a random pang. The ad-hoc moment is telling of Shame’s approach to the record as a whole.

Theron once had high praise for Fassbender’s acting ability. The Oscar-winner was one of many who saw Fassbender demonstrate his skill in the movie Shame. The 2011 drama saw Fassbender playing a tormented sex-addict whose life spirals apart due to his addiction. Theron was so enamored by both the film and its star that she felt it deserved Oscar recognition.
So when Fassbender wasn’t nominated for the awards season, Theron considered it a huge mistake.

Little is known about the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6's story, other than the fact that it will return to Vice City and center on a Bonnie and Clyde-esque couple called Lucia and Jason. Given its return to one of the franchise's most iconic locations, GTA 6 would benefit from taking more elements from its previous Vice City-set games. Unfortunately, this would mean a retcon and going back on a previous GTA universe rule set by the series' developer, Rockstar.
The "3D universe" GTA stories took place across three decades, the Miami Beach-inspired 80s setting of Vice City, the 90s of San Andreas, and the then-present-day 2000s of GTA 3. Several characters crossed over between these titles, such as Catalina, who first has a turbulent relationship with San Andreas protagonist Cj, before leaving him for GTA 3 protagonist Claude, who she then also betrays at the start of that title. Margot Robbie has expressed surprise at “getting away” with an “orgy” scene in her new film.
The Australian actor appears in Babylon, a Hollywood epic from Oscar-winning La La Land director Damien Chazelle, alongside Diego Calva and Brad Pitt.
According to reviews, the film is divisive and contains many shocking scenes, with one depicting an orgy occurring early on.
One person who was surprised by the film’s content was Carey Mulligan, who spoke with Robbie as part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” interview series. She described the opening sequence as “this enormously debauched, crazy, wild party” featuring “lots of people wearing very little or nothing”.
Robbie said: “It’s pretty much a party-slash-orgy. It kind of turns into an orgy.”
She described the film as “mad”, stating: “When I read the script, I was like, this is like La Dolce Vita and Wolf of Wall Street had a baby – and I love it.
