TNT has ordered to series and set a premiere timetable for its continuation of the iconic Dallas saga.
The new series featuring faces both fresh and very familiar will bow in the summer of 2012, the network announced on Friday. But seeing as that feels so, so far away, fans can get a sneak preview of Dallas this coming Monday, during the season openers of The Closer (9/8c) and Rizzoli & Isles (10/9c).

Jesse Metcalfe is moving to "Dallas." The former "Desperate Housewives" actor has signed on for TNT's revamp of the popular '70s and '80s nighttime soap "Dallas," with Metcalfe talking on the role of Christopher Ewing, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam Ewing. Former "Veronica Mars" actress Julie Gonzalo has also joined on with the cast, as Christopher's fiancée Rebecca. The "Dallas" revamp, which comes via "Cane" creator Cynthia Cidre and Warner Horizon, will kick its predecessor's narrative a generation into the future, focusing on the offspring of brothers/rivals J.R. and Bobby Ewing. J.R. Ewing is coming back to television. Larry Hagman, who played the scheming, womanizing oil baron in "Dallas," is reprising his role, along with series originals Patrick Duffy, who plays Bobby Ewing and Linda Gray's Sue Ellen Ewing, TNT announced Tuesday. The new show follows J.R. Ewing's son, John Ross, and Christopher, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam Ewing. The cousins clash as they try to control the family fortunes.
