Three high schools and two college campuses where edited together to form the High School. Southwest High School (Nicholas Zebrun and David Sowden's alma mater; used for most of the interiors), Arlington Heights High School (most of the exteriors and occasional interiors) and Trimble Tech High School (selected exteriors) where all used together. Both Texas Christian University (TCU) and Tarrant County Community College (TCC) South Campus where used for selected interior and exterior shots during their summer school program when high school shooting was deemed impossible. The school was intended to be a labyrinth of halls, parking lots and classrooms. Thus shots and locations were purposely designed not to match up, so as to give a sense of disorientation and confusion - recreating the blur of classrooms and buildings that formed several of the crew members' high school years. Melissa Wyler: Who needs a scholarship when you have love?
Dion Coulouris: Love? Love?

Dion Coulouris: I need you to be careful. Those are the exact kind of words that are going to get you pregnant.
Melissa Wyler: I'm not going to get pregnant. We've only been going out for a week.
Dion Coulouris: And what do you think the six-week anniversary present is going to be? A bunch of big, nasty, Mexican babies.
