Husband and wife movie stars, Jill Ireland and Charles Bronson, who star in this short promotional film for the United Way of America organization, were the International Ambassadors for United Way during 1981.
According to the book 'Charles Bronson' by Michael R Pitts, "While seen by many people at their work sites and through United Way promotions, this film is no longer available for viewing. According to United Way archivist Ann Chenoweth[,] the music rights to 'Real Heroes' expired and for copyright reasons the film cannot be shown, not even to the United Way's own local agencies."
The 1981 United Way of America 'Communications Catalog' catalog said of this film: "Charles Bronson is the most widely known and liked spokesman United Way has ever had. His face and no-nonsense image insure immediate identification and credibility in audiences everywhere. In more than 60 motion pictures, Mr. Bronson has become a hero to millions. He has a unique quality with which people identify. It's that deep sense of honesty that grows from a first hand knowledge of the hard side of life . . . Discover the unprecedented popular appeal of Charles Bronson and see his straightforward delivery that makes giving and commitment to the United Way the bottom line."
This film is one of a number of short films that the United Way of America organization made each year as a promotion of the body and to raise funds in the form of donations.
